It’s a very simple restaurant on the edge of town , we were staying close by at Hotel Villa de la STR and it was raining heavily. A warm welcome and very efficient service. Food was excellent and very traditional. We went for crostini antipasto,...which was four large slices of crusty bread topped with goods portions of pates and tapenade. I also had the bean soup, which was delicious. Mains were pork with mushrooms and the wild boar stew, with two side dishes. They were all very good and good portion sizes.More

The service was very friendly and the food amazing! The gnocchi is a must try if you like truffle 🤤. The restaurant has an outside seating with an amazing view to the Duomo. Would totally recommend to stop by for a nice lunch.

This is the best gelato in Siena! I am a regular, but brought my very lactose intolerant guest here having seen the list of store made vegan flavors. Being very sensitive, she was thrilled to find many interesting flavors that she said were the creamiest she...had ever had. She's now visited three times and had all of the flavors! My personal favorite is the ginger, and one of the very few places I have ever found cinnamon... and for 2.50, you get two flavors1More

We were here at Aperitivo time, around 1830. We ordered drinks and that was all we got: no napkin, no straw for the Spritz, no snacks and hardly any alcohol in the drinks. Do not recommend.

Great location for a restaurant overlooking Siena! We were next to Basilica Caterina but unfortunately didn’t have a chance to visit it . We had a pizza, calzone and pork dish with porcine mushrooms. Everything was delicious and not so pricy . For dessert we...had canelone with different fillings pistachio, chocolate and hazelnutMore

I visited this restaurant last week with a couple of friends. We'd hoped that with the great location and at the end of a long journey this would be a pleasant place to revive ourselves. We found the staff to be bad tempered, even rude....The food to be of poor quality and the smallest portions of pasta we have ever had in Italy. Definitely cannot reccomend.More

Visiting St Francis Church about noon, wary of “joints” close to attractions, but this one is a keeper. Great tasting lunch outside, service by Michaela superb, Grazie! Pizza the best true Italian style. Secondi of Arista Maiale (pork loin with mushroom) both delicious. Prices better...than modest, a good bargain for the result. Highly recommend!More

Since 2011 as soon as we have dropped off our bags at our hotel, we make a beeline to Il Masgalano. This is exactly where we want to relax after a long flight. Fortunately it is open at 3PM and we have many favorites on...the menu including : patate fritte, melanzane, lamb chops , pasta pomodoro, lasagna, insalata mista ,and pizza con salami picante our #1 choice . It even outranks the pizza at Pizzreria Regina in Boston's North End. That is saying a lot ! Everything is fresh and well prepared ,and the delicious desserts are hard to resist . There is a great wine list including wines by the glass. We have found the prices to be reasonable. We never feel rushed , so we have plenty of time to enjoy the view of the Basilica San Domenico directly across from Il Masgalano. Plus off in the distance is The Duomo that is especially beautiful at night .We always feel very welcome, and that is because of the wonderful people who work here. A huge grazie mille especially to the owner Giuseppe and to Teresa, Mariano, Matzia, Sofia, and Michela. They all make our time in Siena more special than I can ever express. Grazie mille a tutti ! Peggy & George!More

This was supposed to be a four cheese pizza. Can only make one cheese out and that's the runny one. Dirty glasses compliment the grubby surroundings. Sure my €8 wine was the cheap house wine. It tasted awful.

While visiting the beautiful Siena in Tuscany with its many places to eat, we managed to get a seat in here for a quick lunch, good coffee and good Ciabatta filled with tomato cheese etc, Not too expensive for the location either.

But pleasantly surprised by this obviously tourist oriented cafe. We ordered wine, soup and a calzone. The wine was reasonably priced at 15€ The calzone was excellent and fresh. This was the first Ribollita, so not sure how it compares yet. If you need a...quick bite, this was fine.More
