We had a good meal here our last night in Italy. The waiter brought out an amuse bouche to start the meal that was amazing. I'm vegan and had the risotto which was quite good. Their wine pours are quite generous! All of the food...More

Worst pasta ever. Super hard (and I love all dente), with a crazy mix of herbs that tasted bitter. We left the dishes untouched but nobody cared to ask why.More

This restaurant is a must visit for delicious, healthy and beautifully presented vegetarian food. I stumbled across this charming neighborhood restaurant while getting "lost" in beautiful Florence. The service was excellent, the ambiance warm and welcoming, and the food delicious. I am not a vegetarian...More

As another review says, they really care about the food - really true - and also the service. Welcome Spumante and amuse bouche. Menu a bit 'technical' could read easier, and seems to be in a rather non-vegan leather cover. But the choices were nice,...More

Very interesting vegetarian (and vegan) meals. Possibly slightly overpriced. The desserts we had were both average.

Il BARONE – Vegan restaurant A restaurant with no sign and without business cards In 1980, Luciano Salucci, the current owner, opens Il Barone di Porta Romana, with a goal that goes far beyond the management of a commercial activity, but rather the realization of a genuine living room, a “branch” of his own house, where he could share a gastronomic journey with his guests through local and surrounding countries specialties. This journey of culinary delights started many years ago with zuppa lombarda, transmitted to the Florentines during the Renaissance from the comacini stonecutters, introducing specialties from countries far away as well as local ones, with interesting references about their origins and nutritious values. Today, this tasting tour took us to a gastronomic world where nature, with its simplicity, is the chef of the kitchen imposing the exclusive use of the fruits that the earth can provide, without the use of any animal products. The delightful combinations and the careful presentation of the dishes, with vegetables from Km 0 and with other high in value nutritious products coming from other countries, have determined the success of this intimate restaurant. In the Menu we find quinoa, “chisiya mama” that in the quechua language means “mother of all seeds”, an amazing gluten free dish, source of numerous vegetal proteins; the chia seeds (also gluten free) that in the Maya language means power, beneficent plant rich in vitamins, containing omega 3, vegetal antioxidants fibers and the capacity to absorb water, thus indicated for the cleanse of the intestine, the Amaranto (gluten free) with an increased fiber content. Sweets and bread are also a homemade delicacy. In this atmosphere, decorated with antique furniture, you will find wrought iron, paintings illuminated by dim candles, scents and flavors that can satisfy not only those who follow a vegan diet. The Menu features a selection of dishes that are changed frequently, in addition the tasting menu at € 17.50, has several courses that will invite you try the best specialties. The drinks menu is also assorted, with a biological tendency and a choice of wines with no added sulfites. The inside garden, situated under the trees from the Boboli garden, completes the scenario of this charming meeting point. The restaurant is open only during evenings based on reservations only. The kitchen closes at 10.30 pm Closed Mondays and Tuesdays
