We went there in between guided walking tours thinking we would get a decent pizza. We had been in Italy a good 10 days already and knew the difference between regular oven pizza and wood-fired pizza (forno a legna). BUT what we got here was honestly the worst pizza our family had in all of Italy. It was like reheated... More

Trying to escape the July crowds of Florence we stumbled upon this gem at a time when it was completely empty (early afternoon). It was one of our best Florence eating experiences. I don't think they get many tourists! This is well worth seeking out. They don't speak any English, but we got plenty of smiles and wonderful food. Our... More

The reasonable prices drew us in but the intimate setting and great food brought us back again on the second night of our stay in Florence. We noted some of the same locals on our second visit which is always an excellent recommendation. I like trying dishes I've never tried before and loved the pasta with tiny fresh sardines in... What a delight! Food is so great here in Florence but this really stood out. The pasta tasted as if it was made just then for your lunch. The owner was so friendly. Will be back for dinner tonight!

We were on a budget trip so we tried to find the cheapest restaurants or should I say ristorantes every time. We wondered all over those narrow streets for an hour and finally we found a cheap enough place for a try. The thing that dissapointed us was that even if we were the only customers there, it took quite... More

This is one of the best small family restaurant we tried in Florence. The food was great, we ordered lasagna, minestrone soup & margarita pizza. The prices are very reasonable and you will not be disappointed.

This little gem was right around the corner of our rental and was recommended by the owner. Otherwise, we never would have found it. Vincenzo was a perfect host and chef. Our party of 5 were so undecided with the menu that we asked him if he could just bring us a sampling of his favorite pasta dishes and serve... More

A small cosy restaurant right off the via Tournabuoni has some of the best food in town. Owned by the chef and his wife, Vincenzo and Elena, they make fresh in the kitchen every order as they are placed. We have been coming to Firenze for years and can say this has become our favorite place to eat. If you... More

We stumbled into Vincenzo's lair on Via del Parione since both of our destination restaurants were closed. We LUCKED OUT! The spaghetti Carbonara and spaghetti Pomodoro were made to order and absolutely perfectly delicious and al dente. As we got comfortable, not knowing what to expect, the diners on their way our were raving about the Chicken with Porcini, the... More

I stumbled across this place while wandering Florence and was so glad I did. The owners are just lovely and very friendly, even though my Italian is limited. I was first attracted by the reasonable prices, but the lasagne is great too and the cappuccino was the best I've had in Europe! I've been twice in two days and will... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
