What a delight, despite its name (rough tranlation 'i expected worse'). The starters were great, in addition to quality the size of the tray of various cured meats was easily enough for two. The main courses were even better, I had a steak, my wife was tempted into trying the tripe a local Tuscan speciality. both were really good. However,... More

We went here five years ago and had some outstanding meals. Came back this year and nothing has changed: Still the same (great) people, still the same menu and still the same great quality. Such consistency over such a long time is impressive. Definitely try the zucchini flan, it is one of the tastiest things you will ever eat.

Went for the lasagna because of all the rave reviews and it was great. Also ordered the T-bone and that too was very good. Everything was delicious. From the potatoes to the Tiramisu. Everything was homemade and done like your grandmother would make it. The staff was very fun too. A great evening.

My 13 year old daughter and I arrived late in the evening but the staff kindly fitted us in despite the fact it was nearly 10pm. The whole place screams relaxed, informal Italian dining at its best. No pretences, no airs and graces, just excellent food and wine in a wonderfully cosy atmosphere. Beef strips in truffle sauce with roast... More

What an amazing place. A wonderful and comfortable environment. The waiter (didn't catch his name) was friendly and super helpful. Now the food... this is where this place truly shines. I had the Ravioli in truffle sauce and the pork as a second. It was truly amazing. I would highly recommend this!!!

My wife and I were strolling down the street in Florence trying to find our Airbnb and stumbled upon this little restaurant. We decided to take the plunge and give it a try, It wasn't busy so we were a little weary about it but it was 5pm and that's very early for dinner in Italy. We were greeted warmly... More

We read multiple postive reviews of this place on TripAdvisor and Yelp, so we went there on our first night in Florence. It was close to our hotel, and it looked charming from the outside. The service was good, but unfortunately, the quality of the food varied. I had a wild boar pasta (pappardelle di cinghiale) that was quite salty.... More

Definitely one of the bests. We had spaghetti with spicy sauce and balsamic steak, both were just perfect. Very cozy, nice staff and very good service. I positively advice this place.

Food is absolutely delicious. I looked forward to revisiting this place after my first bite of the pappardelle al cinghiale. We came back again the next day for the same dish, pici all'aglione and florentine T-bone steak. I truthfully wish I can come back the third time! Everyone who worked there is very friendly and offering, making this the most... More

This was a highly rated restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Perhaps the best Lasagna during our trip to Italy. And, its fairly reasonable too.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
