We had dinner there with our baby and small dog so asked for a quiet table. We were given one in a corner, a very dusty corner. We were ticked off for putting our coats and baby sling on a third chair. We were told that there was nowhere to hang our coats. Fast and impersonal service. Tasty food. Tables... More

I had dinner two years ago at Tijuana and had a great time, I told myself next time I would visit Florence I would go there, so here we are, I just came back from dinner at Tijuana. The scenary is as I left it two years ago: great decoration and music, you feel as if you were in Mexico.... More

Tijuana certainly gets the cantina look down pat: catrinas in the window, plenty of Mexican Revolution kitsch inside. The only thing missing is authentic Mexican food. The fare here seems more a European chef's idea of what south-of-the-border cooking should be rather than the real thing. The results are enchiladas that more closely resemble fajitas: meat of choice piled high... More

What a great find. We came across this place round the corner from the hotel and it was a welcome change from the traditional trattoria which we had visited for the past 4 days. The decor was very cool and quirky, the service was good and the food was flavoursome and portion size decent (read: HUGE). Lots of vegetarian options... More

I am very puzzled with Tijuana. Food: fajita and tostadas were really nice while margaritas on the rock were really awful. It is hard to believe that they do them so badly all the time so maybe we were just very unlucky today but still the bottom line is that a really nice food was accompanied by very bad drinks.

I forced every body to go because my past experiences had always been good. We didn't eat together " because we have two kitchens " that's what they said. The service was awful, the owner was worse so what to expect from the staff. They said we had "bad luck" as if going for dinner is a matter of what?... More

I went for dinner with my friend. We wanted to spend a nice night together but the service was horrible. I got my food first, obviously I did not start as my friend was still waiting on her food. After 20 minutes of waiting we asked our waiter for the other plate, turns out they had not yet put in... More

I've eaten here before and its at best, OK. Mexican food is hard to find in Italy. However, tonight was special. Today is a holiday, most everything was closed and the restaraunt is nearby. We ordered something called the Moicajeta - which is kind of a fajita for two served up in a stone cauldron. The meat had been boiled... More

Our group of 7 college girls went there twice. A few got the margarita which is huge and definitely worth 7 euro, but needs to be shared. Guacamole is awesome and the beans have an olive flavor. In general, all of the tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, etc. were great. Don't get the burgers, they aren't tasty, just bland. The service was... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
