Make a reservation or you won't get in! Very good food and lots of choices. We tried to get in early but the place was booked. We waited until 9 pm but it was worth it. Too good to miss!

My husband just happened to come across this place while looking for restuarants near the apartment we were staying in and it was without a doubt the best restaurant we've been to on our trip so far! Excellent food and service! Kush was so nice and welcoming, and was kind enough to give us 2 glasses of Prosecco and 2... More

We ended up coming here twice during our weeks visit to Florence and both times surpassed expectations. The staff were friendly and professional and the food was absolutely outstanding. I really cannot rate this place high enough. Plus, it's situated right opposite the historic and utterly beautiful San Marco monastery - so well worth coming to!

It was late Sunday afternoon and we wanted a simple dinner and then to bed as we were leaving by train to Rome in the morning. The Concierge at our hotel suggested this small restaurant across the street from the museum that housed Michelangelo's statue of David. We arrived and were immediately impressed by the atmosphere and friendly service. I... More

A group of 9 went. Those who got the steak loved what they got. My octopus meal was just so-so; while the octopus was tender, the pasta was boring. The waiter kept things interesting by giving us a hard time (in a playful manner), but doing what we asked him to do. Others had mixed reviews on their pasta dishes... More

My wife and I keep a list of our best meals, and this contended for the top spot but settled into the #2 spot. Everything was absolutely amazing, the food, ambiance, staff, wine, etc. We went there based on the recommendation of our Uffizi Gallery Tour Guide and it was clear that he told us a place that was good... We went the first time because of the recommendation of a friend who knew someone there. We went the second time because the food was so good the first time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was romantic but still fine for families. It felt very homey and the food was fantastic. Both nights we ordered more... More

Our server from Kosovo recommended the Mushroom Strudel and he wasn't mistaken. Good food, Good service. The Basil Ravioli was the best Primi Piatti I had. We stayed just around the corner and despite our tardy arrival they were able to get us in.

Despite a lame joke about cows being vegetarian, this place has some lovely veg. dishes, great wines and friendly service.

The decor will have you thinking it isn't the greatest restaurant, but it is! What a surprise to find the wine and the food was so homey and so delicious. We didn't have reservations, which I do not recommend, but got lucky with a spot open. Not only was the meal fab, the company was just as wonderful. I always... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
