Accademia was very close to our hotel and reviews were good so we opted for it for my birthday dinner a wise decision! Initial impressions were good; friendly greeting and the staff clearly were enjoying themselves and looking to please We both went for the 4 course taster and this was a great choice. Mushroom, Ragu, steak and sweet all... More

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and by the hotel we were staying at around the corner. It is a small and charming place that was packed both nights we ate there. The food was excellent both times, with different specials, amazing bread, good wine recommendations and the owner was very friendly and accommodating.

I came here after reading good reviews about it and was disappointed. Service was good though the restaurant was like a fast food cafe.

Me and my partner went here on our last night of staying in Florence. I can tell you that it's definitely a place to visit! From the outside it doesn't look like anything special, but the inside is so warm and welcoming. The waiters were lovely and spoke very good English, so we had a friendly chat with some of... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
