We first ate here in 2009 when we were wandering behind the Uffizi looking for lunch and loved it so much we have eaten here ever since when we are in Florence. This is the essence of great home Italian cooking. The flair is on the tasty food not in the ordinary neighborhood decor. But it's thrilling to walk through... More

We were leaving the Galileo Museum and it began to rain....so it was very convenient. The fresh porcini mushrooms in the window closed the deal. The interior reminded us of a restaurant in the country. Within about 15 minutes of being seated the restaurant filled with locals all known to the staff, which to us is always a good sign.... More

We loved this little restaurant. Very tasty food, welcoming atmosphere, good house wine and very reasonable prices. Try stuffed octopus - melts in your mouth!

This is a lovely little family run trattoria by Roberto and his son Alessandro. We ate here everyday during our week in Florence except Wednesday when they were shut. We tried the spaghetti carbonara, the mushroom risotto, the gnocchi, Italian sausages, Florentine steak, the wild boar in sauce, bruschetta, the melon and ham, ravioli, almost all their sides, cantuccini and... Ordinary outward appearance and inside initially unprepossessing but this family run establishment was great. Gradually filled up with happy people all eating great food. The one man front of house team was super efficient and was occasionally supported by his father with whistles and liqueurs. Also visit museo Galileo.

A wonderful little family run restaurant, unexpected in the middle of Florence. This restaurant is totally unpretentious with a menu typed on both sides of one piece of paper in a plastic wallet, all food that we had was lovely and was personally prepared in the kitchen that could be seen through the hatch. The owner was constantly on hand... More

Excellent food with amazing staff. Francesco (Roberto) in the kitchen, Alessandro in the front of the house with Mama working when it's busy. We were made to feel so at home that we kept coming back during the two weeks we were in Florence. Always ask about specials and you might get some wonderful surprises. Make a connection with the... At the exit of Galeria Uffizi turn right, and find this nice family run business, hiding behind a small door. Excellent Italian dishes at a very reasonable price. Not a tourist trap which was a big surprise.

Stumbled across this trattoria very near our hotel on our first night in Florence and were blown away by their Bistecca - we'd been recommended to try this dish while we were in Florence and the version we got in this trattoria was even better than we could have hoped for. We loved this place so much that we ended... More

Very close to Galileo Museum we found this gem that has excellent food and friendly atmosphere. Roberto the cook will come our and meet customers, his wife Maria helps at lunch time and their son Alessandro is very personable and efficient at serving all of the tables. Beef fillet, pasta dishes and desserts are excellent. Especially liked the tiramisu. The... More

Staying in Uffizi

Neighbourhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.
