This was our first meal after we landed in Italy and we were happy to start our week's vacation with lunch at Coquinarius. The restaurant is small, casual and pretty, on a tiny little street near the Duomo. Salads were fresh and delicious as was the pear ravioli. We did not have a reservation so were seated at a communal... More

We had lunch here as someone recommended it to us. The service was fine, and the food was fine, the place is fine, but due to its location behind the Duomo, we felt it was overpriced. We ate better elsewhere during our stay for less money.

I saw some recent negative reviews, so decided to put in my two cents. My wife and I went there two days ago and we loved it. There were many positives, but also some negatives, so here is the scoop. First of all, the most enjoyable part of the restaurant is the ambiance. This was the most inviting restaurant that... More

This is a very interesting place with arched high ceiling, low light and interesting minimal decoration. It has a lively and cheerful atmosphere with good jazz music. The staff is very polite and pleasantly helpful. The food was very good. The "Burrata" (a mozarella cheese filled with cream) served with hams was delicious and the gnocchi were great too. Prices... Don't go there, they have nothing to offer you but the atmosphere. I was afraid the waitress would throw the food, the wine or even the chair on the table. The boy waiter was pretty polite, but he didn't change my opinion about the restaurant. Medium quality food, in more expensive prices than they should, as it concerns the quality... More

A restaurant with nothing more than good atmosphere and good reviews on trip advisor. Medium food, service like no service, nice atmosphere and that is all. No need to be there, try something else. . .

We were not welcomed since we did not have a reservation, so we were directed to a colective table with a deadline time to leave , so we had to leave exactly at 9 pm. The food is very good and tasty and the atmosphere is ok, nothing espetacular. I was expecting much more after reading so many good recomendations.... More

We went for dinner at Coquinarius. We had different crostones for starters, my girlfriend had one with artichokes, prosciutto and melted cheese which was great, and I ordered the mozzarella/tomato one, which clearly lacked mozzarella. As main dishes we had the beef carpaccio (her) and the crepe/pasta filled with vegetables and topped with creamy bechamel/cheese. Both were real good but... More

We booked a table here through our hotel - and its not obvious to find even when you know the address! However, it was worth the effort. The waiter who looks after the wine is a delight and clearly has an extensive knowledge of the wine grown in the Tuscan area. After a short discussion as to our taste in... More

We went to Caffe Coquinarius on our first night in Florence. We asked for the recommendations, and our server was very nice and helpful! We ordered the pear ravioli since everybody on trip advisor seem to rave about it (even though our server didn't mention it) we didn't think it was that amazing- I guess our expectations were very high,... Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
