The place is big and it is always crowded but the service is impressively good! Almost everybody orders a meat menu... the bisteca is mouthwatering, its a must in Florence!

This large, busy restaurant is known for its Florentine steak - a great slab of very tasty, medium rare, bbq'd beef of around 1-1.4kg. Eat this with roast potatoes or spinach or white beans. Other Tuscan classics on offer are the tomato and bread soup and 'Ribollita' vegetable soup.

If you are looking for a traditional family owned authentic Italian restaurant, this is not the place to go. Diners line up at 7:30 outside the restaurant and you have to yell your name if you have a reservation. Tables are tight, the restaurant is loud and waiters are in a hurry due to large crowds. Food is average given... More

My husband introduced me to this restaurant 20 years ago and I just keep going back!!! My husband has been dining here for over 25 years and I can understand why this restaurant is where we always go for a dinner in Florence. Fun, clean, superior steak, great staff, best soup in the city and the fun atmosphere. If you... More

This is by far the worst restaurant experience we have had in Italy ever. Not only was the food a big dissapointment, but also the staff did a lousy job. We ordered a mix of pasta and soup and we were very surprised when they served everything at the same time, thus making the food cold. One other thing was... More

As recommended by my sister in law, we went in for lunch. Good think we made reservations the day before because it got packed really quick. We had rabbit and veal and they both were fantastic. Service was pleasant and efficient.

My wife and I have eaten here 3 times in the past while visiting and the living in Italy. This time we are traveling with friends and we decided to take them there. As usual, the food quality was at the top and portions were plentiful, so much that we took food back to our apartment. No only is this... More

Description
Around the tables of "Il Latini" friendships are interwoven, all the world's languages are spoken, fervent discussions are held and everyone tastes food that has the flavour of the old times past. Il Latini means tradition: a means of discovering Tuscany and its people. The kitchen is where the best products of Tuscany's countryside are turned into the dishes typical of the tuscan tradition. Il Latini's kitchen was originally the kitchen of Narciso's wife, who used to take the dishes from her home to the cellars in Palazzo Rucellai where tables were set. Sora Maria's cooking was made of ingredients and flavours typical of tuscan cuisine, simple and genuine food that nowadays are still a characteristic of the restaurant. The flood in Florence did not spare the tavern, which continued nevertheless to serve warm dishes Florentine citizens among the muddy streets.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
