It's a sad restaurant that serves you steamed asparagus that's gone a bit yellow due to over cooking. And when the sautéed vegetables showed up in a messy bunch, that's it!!! The bistecca alla Fiorentina is all right but nothing to rave about. So be...More

The Tuscan steak was excellent, along with all of the other dishes, from the Zucchini flowers, and special pasta dishes. The staff was amazing and did not push dishes like other restaurants, then even recommended us cutting back on our ordering (there was 6 of...More

Great starters with some accompanying Prosecco, followed by an amazing meal, paired with some Vino Nobile de Montepulciano, all while being served some of the best staff we found in Florence. This, combining with the excellent (and not super fancy) atmosphere, made for a great...More

On our first night in Florence, our hotel owner recommended L'Osteria di Giovanni to me and my boyfriend. We wandered up to the doors, poked our head inside to have a look, and before we had even seen the menu we were led to our...More

This restaurant was recommended to us. The service was great from start to finish. The food was delicious and served at a good time interval despite the fact the restaurant was packed. We booked the table ahead of time and I recommend doing this to...More

L'Osteria di Giovanni was unbelievably delicious. My wife and I were told to eat here if were ever in Florence by a couple we met in Bruge, Belgium a few years ago. Well, it did not disappoint, the Ravioli, the Florentine Steak, the Zucchini flower,...More

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city

We are going to Florence in May, 2017 and are very interested to dine at your establishment. We are travelling in a group of 7 and some of our members are vegetarian and others have sensitivities to eggs. Can you share menu items?

At L’Osteria di Giovanni we not only maintain strict allegiance to traditional Tuscan dishes (including many antique recipes that are not commonly used these days), but we also experiment with new flavours and combinations, whilst remaining faithful to local and season produce. Popular new dishes include smoked duck breast on rocket salad and dressed in balsamic vinaigrette, tortelli stuffed with pear and pecorino, with leek and paprika sauce, pici with sausage and kale, and lamb slow-cooked with artichokes. We stronly believe that your restaurant experience should be unique and satisfying on every front. We look forward to welcoming you one day to L'Osteria di Giovanni.
