We ate here twice as we were too late for the wonderfully cheap tasting menu on our first visit. Not to waste the dining opportunity we ate prawn tartare, and a boiled meat confection to start and a crustacean soup with swordfish and a truly magnificent pork chop stuffed with provolone and blet and cooked sous vide for mains. The pork was the highlight of eight days in Palermo. Brilliant! The 38€ tasting menu (1 hour 30mins) with eight courses is one of the greatest restaurant bargains anywhere and at anytime. Small plates of course but not skimpy. A real treat. Good wine as you would expect in such a restaurant.

We went on New Year’s Eve lunch and enjoyed a lovely long lunch. We shared dishes which was a great way to taste the menu. Our wine waiter stefano provided us with a lot of information and great recommendations on wine choices. The baked pasta was great. Service in Italy is at a different pace and if you relax into their pace you will enjoy the experience

We had a table outside on a warm October night so there were lots of people watching going on - sadly there were also cars and motorcycles passing whose exhaust fumes didn't do much to enhance the food! OIn to the food - it was excellent. Local Sicilian dishes, cooked and presented very well. We had a great wine waiter who was very engaged and suggested some lovely wines to accompany our food - they were lush. Definitely somewhere I would recommend.

We chose this restaurant for our final evening meal in Palermo. After so much good food elsewhere, it was a real disappointment. The first warning sign was the bread basket. The bread was cold like it had just come out of the fridge. The degustation starter was a confusing mix of strange tasting items; fish balls, sardines, caponata etc. None of them were very pleasant or fresh tasting. The pastas were both undercooked (not al dente but raw) and what was called a broccoli pasta on the menu was actually cauliflower mixed with raisins...really unpalatable. The service was totally indifferent and nobody asked how the food was, particularly surprising as they took the food away barely eaten. Overall, Palermo is full of amazing restaurants, and I am amazed this place has got so many good reviews. My advice is to choose wisely and avoid here.

We visited this restaurant a couple of days ago to try the 8-course degustation menu, which ended up to be a huge disappointment. Fishball, spaghetti with anchovies, grilled cheese were extremely salty and inedible. I was hoping that the dishes would be adjusted according to my dietary restrictions but they were not flexible at all with the adjustments we requested (I only asked for low salt). You either get what is in the menu or what the chef cooks for the degustation menu. The dishes overall were nothing special. For desert, we got a glass of grape and melon pieces as one “course”, and a ready-made cannoli that you can find at the airport cafe as another course. It’s not worth what we’ve paid for, and I’m not going back again.

I booked well in advance to visit this restaurant … It had been highly reviewed but sadly we found it to be pretty average food and less than friendly service. The best part was the complimentary spincione with Marsala on arrival. The two pasta dishes that we ordered were okay but certainly not the best we have ever had. The mains were the disappointment. My husband ordered the blackened pork and it was tough and virtually inedible. My main was the sausages in tomato sauce and they were so dense and not at all flavoursome. We ordered a €35 bottle of red wine And it was served warm… Fortunately they did give us a ice bucket so that made it more palatable. We provided our feedback in a very polite and appropriate way but after that we were virtually ignored. €105 later we were very happy to leave and definitely decided against having dessert. I wish that we had the two euro Mortadellaria panino up the road!

We stayed at a hotel not far from Buatta and was drawn to this place by the charming decor and an interesting farm-to-table menu. Menu is displayed prominently on the glass windows and we kinda decided what we wanted to eat even before stepping in. Reservation is highly recommended as they are very popular. Overall a delightful experience. Local Sicilian cuisine with a modern twist.

The restaurant is conveniently located in the historic heart of the city and has a "Bib Gourmand" rating in the Michelin Guide and we were glad that we had pre-booked, as it was bustling on the Thursday evening that we visited. The decor is stripped down with a "industrial chic" style. Think bistro rather than classic dining. Given the Michelin recommendation and obvious popularity, our expectations for the advertised traditional Sicilian cuisine were high, but what followed was largely mediocre and disappointing. The cover charge included a selection of undistinguished bread and we then started with a rather bland tasting plate ("degustazione Buatta") with yet more of the same stodgy bread and a slightly more interesting plate of pasta with sardines and fennel (both plates 16 Euros each). For mains, we both chose "Frittura" (a selection of fried fish- 20 Euros each), which were ok, but nothing special. In fact, we often get much better "frituras" in southern Spain and the contrast was stark with this mediocre version. Our desserts were cassata and gelato di frutta, which were pleasant but not spectacular. Wine was relatively expensive, although we managed to find a more reasonably priced "Vurgo" Sicilian white at 34 Euros, preceded by 2 glasses of sparkling white at 8 Euros per glass. Because it was so hot (our visit coincided with a heatwave) and the restaurant's A/C was struggling, we passed on coffees. Service was informal, friendly and reasonably efficient. The final bill for 2 (excluding tip) was 143 Euros, which we felt was excessive for what was a very average meal.

While this restaurant may have a Michelin star chef, it is not a Michelin star restaurant. The food is delicious but the service is just ok. The wait staff fails to come back to the table in between courses, doesn't even pour the water (just left a bottle on the table), fails to recognize you even need water or even cutlery when delivering a course. The hostess has an attitude. It caterers to tourists as I don't think the Sicilians would tolerate this behavior. The chef (or the owner), needs to re-train these people. Michelin needs to up their standards.

The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. We had a table overlooking the kitchen and - OMG - the cooks work like a Swiss watch (and the chef is a reality show material). My seafood soup was excellent. Unfortunately, the octopus salad was a bit rubbery. The selection of local wines is formidable .

We ate one simple dish of cod fish cooked to perfection at low temperature on a bed of baby spinach and served with delicious bread (mine were probably the best, crispiest, fresh gluten-free rolls I have ever tasted). Despite not having booked a table and wanting only a simple meal after travelling, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and took the time to explain which dishes could be accommodate my gluten free requirements. This is one place I would wish to come back to, to sample more of the menu - recommend to book a table as this is very popular.

I was really looking forward to this restaurant as in theory it sounded very interesting and good. We decided to have the 8 course taster menu. I think my problem started when I ordered a gin. I asked if they had any Italian gin, simply because there were names on the menu I didn't recognise. Yes, was the response, Gin Mare. But isn't that Spanish? I asked. I was assured it delicious, as was the superior house red we had. But the food? Some good plates, some average and one fish I really didn't like, the mixture just didn't work for me and I felt the fish was undercooked. But the final plate was fruit. Really? Tropical fruit in march as typical Sicilian food? I left feeling underwhelmed. Such a shame. PS Some really lovely waiting staff.

We were so disappointed with our whole experience here. We were 2 familiesc a table of 6 people and everyone of us was totally underwhelmed by dinner at Buatta. At a table of 6 they brought out 4 slices of bread.. The main food dishes wre so unimpressive overall. The sharing platter for the starter was in fairness nice but the omelette was just so so.. For the main courses, they were ok but absolutely nothing to write home about and certainly must have gone way down hill since Michelin awarded them a nod in the guide. One final thing that really created a difficult atmosphere to find in was the overwhelming heat- they either had the air con down to minimum or it’s not working correctly. It made the whole experience so sticky and unpleasant- we mentioned it to a manageress but her weak excuse of the front door being open was borderline ridiculous. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant so one tiny door being open at the front of the restaurant is not going to affect the rest of the restaurant! We visited another restaurant just around the corner CR21 on our first night and to be honest they blew Buatta out of the water with food, service & a cool space to dine!

Service was friendly from the start. But they soon forgot about you once mains were served, dessert menus given and bill asked for. They could have gotten desert, wine and a tip out of us if they did service better Complimentary snack and Marsala was excellent. Saffron and fennel pasta with sardines was excellent. Mains very poor. Pork was literally just pork with fennel and orange. But they was there potatoes on the plate. I feel this restaurant is made for Americans or tourists which is disappointing. The chef and team clearly have a creative spark but lose it when it comes to the simple main dishes designed to pleases tourists. Why would with honour artisan local produce on some menu items but serve a pork steak with potatoes. It’s hypercritical. Do what’s local. Only serve local. Do it well like you did with pasta, bread and wine but skip the boring stuff of pleasing ppl. It would be better if they did this. Wouldn’t return.

This is a reasonably priced restaurant that promotes ethically sourced produce. We received complimentary aperitifs and visited this restaurant on two occasions. The sicilian dishes were authentic and the quality abd the taste of the food was sublime. The staff are very knowledgeable and helped us choose a dry white wine, by allowing us to sample two different varieties. We had the white tuna (soecial) fried fish, sardine pasta and the siciliana sardine dish A very chilled environment. The restaurant opens at 7.30 and booking is advisable as it is a very popular place
