The right place for fish lovers

The restaurant is localed in Via Santa Filomena, off via Umberto I. which is not far from Villa Bellini. I have visited some famous fish restaurants in Sicilia but this simle and minimalistic restaurant is the best. The fish served were obviously fresh and cooked in such way that one can enjoy the real taste of the fish. Good quality pastas and fesh vegetables are nicely arranged with the fish. We must come back to this restaurant again. Needless to say, they have an excellent wine list. We were the only foregn tourits among the Italian guests, which is a good sign.

Great food

This restaurant is located in a pedestrian street, where you find a lot of restaurants with terraces, close to Villa Bellini. The atmosphere and service could be better but the food was excellent. The caprese salad was nice, the carbonara pasta excellent as well as the crumble dessert. The Luma Nero D'avola red wine was perfect and reasonably priced.

Lovely lunch place to stop a while

Stopped here for lunch on our last day. Our waitress Julia spoke very good English & was incredibly helpful explaining all the dishes, the fish & the catch of the day. We all (3 of us) chose the mixed fish which was delicious. She also talked us through the dessert fridge with patience & knowledge. The restaurant & food was lovely but the experience was made all the better for the lovely Julia, a real asset to to the place

Big disappointment with the food and service

We got a recommendation from the apartment owner and we headed there sure our dinner will be perfect. The atmosphere of the street was lovely. The octopus salad was delicious choice for primi piatti. After that we ordered fried squid and fried mix fish (thinking we will get some kind of fish and chips, or at least fish fillet). The waiter did not asked if we want any side dish nor sauce. The dish came dry and included strange fish parts. There is no side dish, just pure fried parts so very dry and greasy. We were waiving and trying to get waiter's attention for 15 minutes - while there were 4 other tables occupied - so not too crowded. We received the bill including the wine that was not ordered. When mentioning it to the waiter, she said just “sorry”. We also pointed out our disappointment with the dishes and the services but they did not want to take it into consideration.

Excellent fish dishes

We enjoyed the best dinner since arriving in Sicily. Grilled octopus with crunchy vegetables was perfectly cooked. An original pasta dish with a ragu of sardines really packed a punch, and the babá dessert went down a treat.

Cibo buono e molta accoglienza - Great food and very welcoming staff

IT: Cibo davvero buono e menù vario, con porzioni abbondanti e antipasti particolari, belli da vedere oltre che buoni. Il cameriere è stato disponibilissimo e sempre molto cordiale, decisamente raccomandato. EN: The food was really good and the menu had a lot of choices, with large portions and particular appetizers, beautiful to look at, as well as good tasting. The waiter was super helpful and always polite, would definitely recommend.

Terrible meal, the dishes are covered with unnecessary gloopy sauces. This was the worst meal we have had in both Catania and Scopello

We stopped here for lunch and coincidentally our friends had booked the same place for us all at dinner. We all ate different things, all delicious. Highly recommend the grilled vegetables and bruschetta

Good seafood restaurant

Good food! Good value for money. But service was a poor, maybe the language barrier or could be they were busy (Saturday night!). Would recommend and come back again if we are in Catania.

Supermarket food.

We are in a sea city and they served us frozen calamari (not fresh) such a shame! After they served the same frozen fries I buy at the supermarket.I'm local and I can say it was terrible you can find many better place in the city, don't go there!

Bad service, ok-ish food

We had fritto misto and pasta carbonara. Poor service, two waitreses who speak poor english,didn't have pacience at all. We ordered a wine and received another one. The wine was hot, they left it on the table, didn't poor it into the glasses. The frito misto had a lot of oil, the carbonara was over boiled and the sauce had a lot of watter

Fresh and tasty seabass

It was not easy to choose the right restaurant for the only dinner in Catania on the small street crowded with so many restaurants next to each other. So, we somehow ended up in Palinuro and haven't regreted our choice. We both ordered fried fillet of seabass which was really fresh, juicy and tasty. In addition to that we shared a portion of rissotto with sea products which unfortunately didn't impress us. The white wine by glass was also mediocre. Overall, Palinuro is a good choice and recommendable.
