Campiello Remer is in a hidden location, down a narrow alley near Rialto Bridge. The tavern is chocked-full of atmosphere, with exposed brick walls and beams. The staff was great, and the live music festive. The food was solid, nothing terribly exciting, but nothing bad. It was a fun place to dine with a large group.

Locals told us about this place and it was a wonderful tip. Superb service and tons of food. Really great atmosphere in heart of super busy Venice.

If you want to enjoy a really nice meal a bit outside of the crowd, this is your place to go. Great atmosphere, great cook and decoration. Service also good. Definitely a must go if you enjoy gastronomy.

Found this whilst out walking and checked trip advisor as it is such a beautiful restaurant so we booked to visit on the Saturday evening when the live music was on. The restaurant is stunning and the staff were lovely and welcoming. Unfortunately I chose the wrong dish, I opted for the Suckling Pig which I love, the waiter maybe... More

The food was excellent and the atmosphere very warm and welcoming. The service was very good also. The waiter was patient and helpful explaining in english the items on the menu and making reservations. We walked to the restaurant after taking a water taxi. Depending on where you're staying, look at the best way to get there. I do recommend... More

Hidden on a small square which opens on to the grand canal, this is a gem of a restaurant. The staff are excellent and friendly, the food delicious and the pricing not unreasonable for Venice. Booking is a good idea.

We backpacked the world and always have our eyes out for a bargain which was pretty hard to find in one of the most lucrative cities in Europe. We enjoyed a free walking tour of Venice where our guide, and fellow bargain hunter, told us about the Taverna Remer. Tucked away beside the Grand Canal approximately 7 minutes on foot... More

I use trip adviser a lot to check out places and very rarely post reviews however I literally cannot describe the most amazing seafood restaurant we (party/friend of 4) have ever visited. Advisable to book a table - Approx 20 mins walk from St Marks. Beautiful decor inside and under brick arches - felt very at home for 4 people... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
