22/4/17 Amazing food, wine + atmosphere, upstairs table with a view of the lagoon and St George's Island, the original owners granddaughter came to chat after our meal which completed my Wife's special birthday.

This place IS expensive, I am constantly amazed of the reviewers who get sticker shock when they visit. Its Harry's, what we're you expecting? We (2 of us) had a very good lunch, Bellini and a martini ( which was one of the better ones I have had) and the bill was 120€. Harrys is known worldwide, with a guest... More

I was in Harry's bar San Marco with friends for dinner. It was full during the Biennale and so a bit overcrowded, but this is part of the charme of being all together sharing excellent food. I had lovely shrimps and rice with curry, we tasted many bellini, we had tartare and asparagus rice and all was perfect. Go the... More

If you have to trade on a name then make it worth it. Firstly I fail to see what the fuss is about, but many do. However this cramped and charmless place really failed us. After the obligatory Bellini we ate up stairs in the dull cramped restaurant and were served very poor food at unnecessary high prices. Our food... More

We happily paid €46 for 2 Bellini's at the famous Harry's Bar. During our visit to Venice we tired many Bellini's at different establishments but this was by far the best ones we tried.

My husband and I booked a table for dinner on the last night of our Venice trip. We were well aware of its reputation as being very expensive but were expecting some excellent food too. We ate in the cramped first floor dining room and had the obligatory Bellinis served by white jacketed waiters. I chose a starter of baby... More

Sitting upstairs, sipping bellinis, eating risotto, heaven! We went early, service was impeccable, had a selection of starters to share, hams, mozzarella, baby , artichoke, the pea risotto was out of this world, but leave the polenta behind.........can't understand why anyone should order this anywhere!!!!! A lovely evening with great food.

Couldn't have been more disappointed coming here. Place dated rather than nostalgic. Tables and chairs packed in. Decided to stay anyway and have cocktails - the iconic Bellini and a Bloody Mary, both came in quarter pint tumblers, with nothing else in them (e.g. celery for BM). Very expensive too. Not allowed to take photos inside (not that I would... More

Do not understand why this place is mentioned in the Venice guide books. The staff are snobby and curt. The prices of the drinks are astronomical and totally unjustifiable. There is no view and no atmosphere. Don't waste your money!

If you have a spare 40-50 euro's then it's worth calling in to Harry's just for the experience, I guess. My wife had a Bellini and I got a whisky sour (which was very nice) and we nursed them just long enough to enjoy the comings and goings. You do get a substantial selection of olives and nuts and the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
