Strada Nuova is a long street from Plaza Roma almost to the Rialto. You are spoiled for choice and without any previous experience it's very hard to choose. I would, however, recommend this one for many reasons. The staff were friendly, funny, attentive. The menu...More

If you want the Italian Fawlty Towers experience, I suggest you visit this restaurant. Our somewhat lacklustre reception and offhand acceptance of our order was the last interaction we had with our waiter who had to be prompted for delivery of our meal from bread...More

Going to our first Trattoria, I had high expectations, unfortunately I was a little let down. So my husband and I had our first full Italian eatery experience. The full shebang. It involved antipasti, 1st course, mains course and dessert with wine. I had the...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
