A local resident of Venice tipped me off to Mascari as he knew I was looking for a particular type of rare Balsamic Vinegar. Mascari did not disappoint. They had exactly what I was looking for and the customer service was great. Very warm and friendly staff. Next time I will spend more time there. It is a treasure within... More

Wonderful place with very reasonable prices. Great choice of everything what makes the Italian kitchen so famous. Name it and they have it. This shop looks like a tourist trap with very high prices but that is not the case. We hope this Mascari-shop and the family will run for ever.

On our yearly visits to Venice since 2012, we shop for funghi, spices, walnuts, almonds, mostarda & more, at this exceptional grocery store in our San Polo neighborhood. The quality of their foods is amazing & you could not find a more dazzling array of candies and sweets anywhere. I recommend Cuba Rhum chocolate for an unforgettable experience! Our favorite... This shop is full of traditions, knowledge and history. If you are in Venice, you should pop by to buy wine, spices, sweets and different Venetian specialities. It has a very good selection of wine, hard to see from the outside since it is almost like a cave. The people working there are happy to give advice, too. This is... More

Ask for Gabriel for wine advice snd you will be PLEASED. They have a very nice selection and good prices. Their selections change based off of quality and distributor offers. It seems they have a keen eye and palate. If you could only stopped at one wine/food merchant this would do you well! I also like the traditional vibe, counter... More

we bought so much from this amazing shop, - it's like an aladdin's cave - there's just as much in the inner rooms as there are in the main shop that you see when entering - this is one of the few family run businesses- we were talking to the granddaughter and her father, his father and other family members... Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
