Perfect spot for a mid afternoon stop to rest your feet. Not a religious experience, but your feet will like it. This was day 15 of our Greek Gods and Italian Saints Tour

The welcome here was a bit unwelcoming. We felt that they'd have preferred to remain empty. However it was clean, comfortable and warm. The ham and cheese toasties were really good and reasonably priced at €6 considering we weren't far from St Marks Sq. The toilets were also very good and clean

We ate dinner here last night. Or should I say we couldn't eat the dinner here. I ordered carbonara & it was overly peppered and very, very salty. My husband's food was okish but his beef was so raw it still had a pulse and at not point were we asked how we would like it cooked. Never mind I... More

We were there with my friend just for one drink but I can tell that the service was great and the drink as well. Loved it!

I spent two wonderful hours eating al fresco with my wife. We've had several fish 'cicchetti' and a white wine of the house, plus a coffee cake. All the ingredients were of high quality and the dishes were well executed, especially the 'baccalà mantecato' and the cake, which were superb. The prices are correct given quality and quantity, and especially... More

Delicious portions, awesome service, and authentic food. Mateo was a wonderful and patient server to my huge family. He gave great recommendations which were delicious and filling. His dad made the best tiramisu we ever had. Even gave my grandmother roses after dinner!! So grateful for a beautiful experience in Venice w my family. Eat here.

We stopped here to for drinks and a quick lunch before leaving Venice. It's only a couple of minutes away from the waterfront in the back streets and therefore cheaper to eat and drink than some of the waterfront eateries. Our food was good and the staff very friendly. We were able to watch the end of the British GP... More

A small restaurant in a very good location, close to San Giovanni in Bragora. There were three of us and we shared two seafood antipasti, which were extremely good and would almost have been sufficient in themselves. We then had fish of the day, with a great side-dish of grilled vegetables, all excellent. Highly recommended.

We booked using TripAdvisor and, as such, you'd expect them to be on their game. Service was appalling, food was average, drinks orders and salad orders were messed up, and they made a hash of the bill. Avoid like the plague.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
