Perfect soup of muscles and clams to warm us on a chilly day. Peter's humor and welcoming were also very warming. Lovely Dover Sole cooked beautifully, with triple chocolate dessert finished us completely. We have returned to this cozy place for many years.

Pietro (Peter) is quite a character but he did make our evening. We had numerous spritzs and rum & Cokes and then we decided to stay for dinner. We had pasta which was enjoyed by all of us. The Trattoria was busy and clearly a popular choice. We had a good evening so give it a try.

My parents and I had dinner here our first night in Venice and loved it so much we came here our final night as well! The food was amazing, Peter and his staff were exceptional and the atmosphere was great. It is outside the city center of Venice, away from the large crowds. With weather permitting, the place has great... More

A quaint place tucked away in less trafficked canal in Cannareggio. The menu is classic Venetian, very heavy on the seafood. The decor is cozy. Service is casual but friendly. The wine list is modest but sufficient. The "seppie" are outstanding as is the liver Venetian style. Weather permitting the outside seating on the canal is very pleasant without the... More

After having aperitivo in Cannareggio we n landed in this restaurant. I had a delicious Spaghetti fruti di mare. The service was very friendly to everyone and even offered us a digestivo on the house.

Upon arriving in Venice after a long day of driving, we were looking for a nice place to eat...and we found it. The service here was wonderful, the food was delicious, prices were either on par or a little cheaper than the other restaurants in the same area, and Peter, the waiter, was very personable and attentive. We chose to... More

The restaurant is located adjacent to one of the canals. Offering seating waterside, inside or in their courtyard garden. We were seated promptly. The manager (owner?) was very friendly and jovial. It took some while for our order to be taken even though the ratio of waiting staff to customers looked about right. House wines (red and white) were nice.... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
