The eldery gentleman at the door was very inviting as was the interior. And those are basically the best bit of this restaurant. The service is nice enough, but they bring a bruschetta (super dry bread and chopped tomatoes in olive oil) as a coperto of sorts. Refusing this minor "appetizer" seemed rude, so we gnawed them down. We both... More

We accidentally came across this place as we were wandering the streets of Venice. Roberto talked us into eating here and boy were we glad we did. The food was delicious, however, it was the friendly and entertaining service that topped off the night for us. Thank you for helping make our stay in Venice one to remember!

We stopped here as the offer gluten free options which I was surprised that many restaurants in the city did not know what Celiac Disease was and had no offerings of gluten free. It was such a pleasant surprise the staff was informed of CD and could accommodate my needs. The food was amazing and I literally gobbled it up... More

Stopped by while walking the streets looking for a place that catered to celiac disease. Served great gluten free pasta and the staff was superb.

This isn't a criticism, just my honest opinion. We stayed in Venice for three nights and this was by far the most expensive restaurant ( almost twice the price) compared to others we visited and there was very little difference in quality of food and they also charge 12.5% service charge which isn't particularly justified. Ask to see the set/tourist... More

Being in the mood for some great shell and fish food after so much pasta/pizza this place was a great find. Outside displays were enticing and the meal was not to let down. Located on the periphery of a square its easy to miss if its crowded and you're walking into a narrow street.

Our first meal in Venice! Recommended by our hotel manager. Spaghetti bolognese, eggplant parm, caprese salad, Prosecco and 2 colas 60 euro including 12.5 service charge. Delicious! The waiter was a bit much for us, we like to eat in peace and he was chatting to us during the entire meal.

After several hours of hot, crowded tourist activities, we really needed an ice-cold beer so pulled in here for a bit. Nice wait-staff, pleasant setting, excellent local beer, and very reasonable prices. We noticed people around us eating some very appealing dishes. Wouldn't mind coming back here for a full meal! It's not far from the Hotel Principe.

We found this small, 3 generations old restaurant a short walk from the railway way station and close to the canal near the Jewish Ghetto. There are some nice tables outside where you can watch the world go by, there are also plenty of tables inside too. They served an unexpected garlicky bruschetta as a welcome, over and above the... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
