This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and we visited on a quiet Sunday night; in fact we were the only diners for most of the evening. However, we enjoyed an excellent meal with great sea food choices and traditional Venetian cuisine. Service was attentive and the dining room has a nice rustic feel.

We stumbled across La Porta D'Acqua while meandering the streets of Venice. It is a bit off the beaten path, but not so far off to make it hard to find, just devoid of crowds of tourists. Salad, risotto with scampi and pumpkin, and grilled vegetables of the day are what we chose for our dinner. Very good! We chose... More

We had dinner here on our first night in Venice - made reservations in advance of the trip. The seafood platter was as good as it gets, and I'd order it again and have it shipped home if I could :)

Having stumbled across this wonderful little lace the previous night, we decided to make sure we could reserve a table here for our last night in Venice. Only a short walk away from the bustling its busy street restaurants around the Rialto Bridge, but not hidden enough to make it difficult to find. This charming little restaurant showed how Venetian... More

My partner and I had a dinner here while we were in Venice, and the food was very good. The zucchine alla scapece with fish was excellent. I'd note that the portions were a bit variable - the pasta dishes were a good size, but for the main dish I ordered the amount of fish was fairly small and I... More

So it's a few streets from Rialto, but a proper local dining experience away from the touristy types of waterfront restaurants. Not cheap, but lovely food nicely presented. Lunch and drinks for 2 came to 110 Euros. We had previously eaten at Al Paradiso nearby, and this is similar and both very good.

We ate here one of the nights of our stay in Venice, and so glad that we happened to walk past it earlier in the evening and decide to eat there and book a table. We sat outside, which was lovely as it was a warm evening, and the food was delicious. The pasta in particular is all freshly made,... More

Recommended by our guide, Nicoletta. I wish I could say that all our meals in Venice were as good as this one! Fresh seafood pasta, ravioli stuffed with taleggio cheese and served in cream of peas and exquisite hazelnut panna cotta. If you want an authentic place away from the noise and tourist restaurants of the Grand Canal, come here.

This restaurant is tucked away in a side street behind the fish and vegetable market. We were 5 and sat outside for dinner. It took forever for 5people tomake up their minds on what to order but the waiter was soooo patient. We got it together and we were all amazed that we actually got served what we ordered. Excellent... More

The three meals we had at this restaurant tucked in a lovely side street near a local church was a highlight of our visit to Venice. It gives an authentic taste of real Venetian food rather than the tourist "Disney" version to be found canal-side. We enjoyed everything we had as we worked our way through their menu over the... Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
