I was anticipating my risotto al seppia nero at this restaurant because I had fond memories of the last times we ate there. It was good - but not as good as before. The last times we ate here, the restaurant was crowded. This time we were the only ones having lunch. Perhaps it was an off day. We will... More

Just had a lovely meal in this restaurant. The setting was inviting and the food was excellent. Very reasonably priced.

It's not spectacular, but my dish of penne al pesto was just what I needed, and my husband had a good plate of chicken and potatoes. The wine was cheap as buttons for Venice -- just 2 euro for a generous glass. They also served up very fresh, crunchy bread (rather than the dry rolls you so often get). The... More

Its located in a cute corner of Dorsoduro right in front of a channel. Service is great and the Spaghetti Carbonara is amazing. I visited the place during my honeymoon and ordered a house wine and a plate of cheese and jams (highly recommend). My husband ordered a four cheese gnocchi and he loved it! I highly recommend

We chose this place as we walked passed. The food was good - the puddings were awesome and the waiter was funny. Most of the puddings we have had in Venice seem to be shipped in and from the same company. These seemed in house and were delicious. The staff had a difficult table who were being rude, and they... We enjoyed a delicious meal and a lovely drink out on the deck over the canal. But the setting and the food had nothing on the staff, who were the most engaging, friendly, and genuinely nice people we'd met in Venice. Could not recommend this place highly enough! We booked, but couldn't book outside - so instead we turned up... More

Very helpful staff, very good Venetian food, but the wait staff and other customers are not locals as suggested in other reviews. However, that in no way detracts from the excellent service and authentic Venetian food. We were a group of 11 who actually arrived with a baby in high chair that I forgot to mention when I made the... More

My wife and I dined one evening here at Trattoria Dona Onesta. The service was excellent, with good english. My wife had the lemon scaloppini which she enjoyed, and I had the squid ink spaghetti which was the best meal I had in Venice. Great wine as well

This restaurant is an excellent place for a scenic dinner on the water; however, the outdoor seating was full. The interior did not disappoint! It was beautiful and provided a very romantic environment for me and my fiancé. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The house red wine was delicious- it was a relief to finally get red wine... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
