Our host from our apartment suggested this little restaurant. Tucked away in the side streets in residential Venice. A little tricky to find, but a lovely warm welcome on arrival. The place has a lovely vibe, and a very good selection of local dishes. Lots of locals, which is always a good sign. Enjoyed the evening, and not expensive for... More

Found this place whilst out walking one night and I cannot rate it highly enough. The welcome was warm, appeared to be full of regulars and I can see why you'd go back again and again.

We went for the fish soup and it was a disappointment, they were very thick, taste like fish stew. On the whole, all the food were not too bad and very good size portions. Service was very good.

Was looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews on trip adviser. The food was bland in taste although the service was good. Tourists may enjoy the meal if they do not know the local cuisine but for anyone else I would not recommend.

My wife, our kids, and I had a nice dinner here recently. The kids got pasta pomodoro, my wife and I each got their steak with gorgonzola (I think that was it). It was good. My wife asked for medium well and it came back too red for her. Mine (medium rare) was cooked just right and the sauce was... More

I give 3 stars just for the pleasant waiter and cosy atmosphere in a rainy evening. I chose traditional Italian gnocchi. The food was huge and a bit boring. The good vine saved me. Plane gnocchi in sauce and that's it. No decorations/vegetables, etc. The bread which was served together with the meal was not enough fr two people. Water... More

Grab a table outside and enjoy their good food and service. Their garden area is delightful on a sunny day. Loved the lightly fried calamari and gnocchi. The spaghetti carbonara was nothing special. Limoncello is a perfect way to end your meal. Again, service was incredible. I watched them rearrange tables for a family of 8 and then run to... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
