We tried to find this restaurant and were pointed in two different directions but found it the following night and had a great welcome with a spray of mimosa . The boss Pino offered a wide range of food and a very good valpolicello. We returned again without a reservation later that week and were found a table. Very pleased... More

We would not have found this little gem of a restaurant without our B&B hosts recommendation of only a small selection of his favourite places to eat. Lovely staff, great food & we returned twice in 4 days!

We prebooked this restaurant. Tired after a bad journey we were very hungry and choose different set meals. Unfortunately the food was not good. Nice setting and staff but poor food

Quaint restaurant with a nice menu and pleasant service. The food is brought to you immediately after it's prepared and is steaming when placed in front of you. The lasagna was different than anything we've every had in Italy before. Very creamy and cheesy. Prices were very reasonable and of course, the wine was great!

We came across AS on our way to S.Marco and i insisted on making a booking for dinner. We had a great experience. I had their Tasting menu and that's exactly what i was hoping to get. Their seafood was spot on. Service was attentive. Thank you.

My wife and I stumbled across this place whilst getting lost in the streets of Venice and boy were we glad we did. It has a great look and ambience with a courtyard and homely feel inside. Even though it is tucked away the restaurant was full it seemed primarily by a number of locals. There is an extensive menu... More

This is a lovely restaurant. It was a bit of a gamble as we just walked in without having checked out any reviews, which is something I strongly recommend you do in Venice. The manager/owner welcomed us in and couldn't have been nicer. We had a good feeling as soon as we walked in. They're not re-inventing the wheel, but... More

If you are looking for a real Venetian experience when dining, you must come here. It is up one of the many quiet streets and is a real gem. If you are staying in the savoia& jolanda like me, this restaurant is a 2 minute walk behind the hotel. As you walk into the gates of the restaurants courtyard, you... More

Staff was friendly and seated us quickly, restaurant was not very busy on a late January night. Nice ambiance and the heater was not up too high. We were offered complimentary drinks and eventually ordered lasagna for myself and my wife ordered herself Margareta pizza. The lasagna was rich, cheesy, and dense in a good way. The pizza was also... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
