Went to this place on a whim as they had live music and seemed like a good atmosphere. There was a birthday party going on and it turned into a karaoke of sorts. Highly entertaining! We had the sauteed clams, smoked salmon tagliettali, and homemade tiramisu. All was very delicious! Good vibes, friendly staff and prompt service. Would recommend!

The food looks Italian but it's not real Italian. The place is on Garibaldi st, so normally it's Packed. The service is unpleasant and the waiters Are nervous and nod nice. Try some other place No, I will not come again

It looks nice when you enter, the staff is nice (something difficult to find in Venise) but the service is so long that you feel like going to the kitchen and help them doing you plate, the pasta is poor, the potatos that come with the meat are terrible, and the chicken was raw. Well the rest might be good... More

We had two evening meals here and the restaurant has the comforting feel of a local favourite, with very friendly and good service, and generous quantities of well-cooked food. The seafood is done particularly well and the ingredients are almost startlingly fresh (wonderful flavour compared with much similar British produce), but keep an eye on what the locals are ordering... I made the cardinal sin of assuming that pizza in Italy would always reach at least the standard of uk takeaway pizza ( a very low benchmark I'll accept). Yesterday evenings attempt did not meet the standard of the sort of thing you'd get from a chip shop that also sells pizza. Very confusing for a country renowned for excellent... More

We did lunch here, but the corner of the restaurant told us that in the evening you'd have music as well. Very fresh and tasteful, great value and a charming location on the main walkway in the Castello. Locals were coming in and out, so you knew it was an appreciated part of the community.

We came in by accident on our first night and not speaking italian or accustomed to menus were confused by the menu. Starters seemed more expensive than mains, were they to share? Luckily there was a tourist menu for €16 for two courses which solved the problem. Spaghetti vongole to start followed by one seafood and one chicken milanese (escalope).... More

Great night out. we stumbled on this place whilst walking back from st marks to our hotel in st helena. Its a very local establishment with the owners not speaking a word of english which makes it even more charming. the food was OK and large portions but probably you can take the menu tourista as it comprises most things.... This is full of locals and navel college students and family's. We went twice and the food was very good the chicken escollope the best I've tasted. Music from the maestro added to the evening. Beware the Tourist menu same quality food but smaller portions. When they get busy the service takes some time. They do wine in jugs even... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
