Serious delicious cicchetti, the polpette di carne and di tono where so good had to go back for seconds. Battered cod gorgeous, the marinated tuna lovely.. the list goes on. A must try, staff where super friendly and helpful. Very nice house red. Was a joyful tasting/grazing meal

We found this place friendly and very affordable. Home made typical venetian food is accompanied by a nice selection of local wine. Staff is very friendly. Perfect for an evening bite.

Visited this place twice. Very friendly. Most were locals. It was hilarious to hear other tourist spending $80-$100 for lunch and we spent $20 for the two of us. Food was excellent. Staff very friendly. Wine was great. Many different selections. Loved it!

We tried this place because it was recommended from the Frommer's travel book...did not disappoint! We loved trying cicchetti, which is Italy's version of tapas. Everything was delicious, from the fried calamari and fried shrimp to the marinated tuna. Compliment it with a glass of full-bodied house wine or a prosecco. Great service from the staff and innovative flavors by... More

Central location, easy to find just off Rialto bridge. Visited here on Friday night just after 7pm. Place was teeming with mostly locals and some tourists inside and out. People constantly milling in and out. Barely room to stand, you are lucky to find a spot. If you wait 15 minutes you are bound to get a spot as turn... More

This little place just around the corner from Rialto Bridge is a world away from the hustle and bustle of tourists and the cheap souvenir shops that crowd the main areas of Venice. Walk inside and you are in a different world. Local people stopping in for a quick snack on the delicious cicchetti.. Some tourists who like us have... More

This place is situated away from the glitz of Venice, but this is a real gem of a place.. great local wines and Proseco and not forgetting cicchetti. A must for all visitors looking for a local feel

I've sampled a lot of cicchetti in Venice and this tiny bar's offerings are really top notch. Even though everything is good, the real ticket is the array of smoked and marinated fish, especially the marinated tuna, smoked swordfish.and smoked tuna. Good selection of wine. Everything offered at very reasonable prices. The bar is located just off the Rialto market. Worth... More

This is a lovely little bolt-hole in one of the main tourist strips in Venice, surrounded by boutiques and Trattorias with "menus turistico". However, it serves up great cicchetti - Venetian-style tapas dishes - and drinks at ridiculously reasonable prices. In a city where it feels next to impossible to find genuine local establishments, this place offers an example of... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
