Good quality service in a very romantic setting, difficult to find but worth it just for the interieur. First course not up to expectations but second course was excellent (seared tuna for me and white fish for my boyfriend). The waiters were attentive and helpful.

I picked this restaurant based on reviews on another site but we found it very stuffy and pretentious with waiters in black tie who didn't really have particularly good service skills. Both my husband and I come from Catering/top hotel backgrounds and as part of my job as an Events Manager I have dined at some of the best restaurants... More

Everything about Trattoria Poste Vecie is appealing: from its delightful canal setting facing the Pescheria, from where it gets its daily supply of fresh fish and seafood to the little bridge leading to the entrance and the elegant, old world dining rooms. Wait-staff are friendly and professional, and the cooking is both simple and of a high standard: best ingredients... More

Still reliable for good quality Venetian cooking and hospitality; the specials from the fish market offered an extra range of interest and value. We had Ravioloni filled with sea bass for 17 euros - very tasty. You can spend a lot more here if you want, but we were delighted with our lunch.

I spent a few days in Venice with a friend early November (first time over there!). One evening, while walking random, we crossed the Rio Alto bridge and continued following small streets before seeing light behind a glass door and finding eventually it was a restaurant. I knocked on the door, someone opened and I asked whether it was the... More

...and that's saying something! This restaurant is just off the fish market by the Rialto, with it's own tiny bridge to the restaurant front door. Have your hotel make reservations for you, and provide directions as it is tucked away. The seafood is outstanding, your waiter brings it to the service station near you, and ceremonially removed head, tail and... More

A lovely cosy restaurant but spoilt by a very strong smell of drain/sewer. No veal so had to have the steak (husband having fish) - no sauce, they forgot the chips so all very underwhelming.

You will never just trip over this lovely restaurant near the Rialto bridge, it's a destination you need to seek out. The fish lovers in our group were thrilled with the food here, the rest were somewhat adrift. The staff rallied well and came up with vegetable and pasta options that were not on the menu but in general I... More

As befits the oldest Trattoria in Venice it's entrance over an unusual wooden stepped bridge into the mural covered walls of this romantic restaurant really felt like entering the essence of Venetian dining. The friendly and typically professional Italian waiters, the food and wines and the fibre of the place really made the experience special. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Hard to find, this adorable fish restaurant served good food in a Lovely old world atmosphere. The sole and the bonefish were great. Mussels and clams okay not great. Dinner with a good bottle Of wine $98 Euro. Not very accessible for handicapped people. Located next to fish market.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
