This was our one special meal during our trip to Venice. With a roaring fire greeting you and staff in white jackets serving the best Italian food, you can't go wrong. Book in advance but please do go. You won't be disappointed.

It started with being picked up from St Mark's Square by the Cipriani's own motor launching and being sped across the lagoon where we sat outside in the courtyard. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in a fantastic setting. I even had a birthday cake, made the chef, presented to us for desert!

Make for the Locanda Cipriani. This world class restaurant achieves a rare combination of the highest 21st century standards with traditional values of genuine service and hospitality. We were made most welcome despite failing to book (essential), and enjoyed the perfect lunch in the loggia, set amid lush gardens in the shadow of Torcello’s Basilica (do visit afterwards). You can... More

Beautiful decor, delicious and authentic Italian cuisine with excellent service. It's on the expensive side but you are on a day trip if you are in Torcello anyway so relax and enjoy it. My husband had the lamb chops and said they were exquisite. I had risotto which was as rich and creamy as it should be. Desserts were beautiful... More

During the summer there are few quiet delights to compare with sitting in the gardens and eating lunch here. Owned originally by the same family that owned Harry's Bar and so much ease in Venice, it was an essential stop on the grand tourist trail. The setting is delightful, at the end of the little canal that splits Torcello in... More

We were on a day trip to Murano, Burano and Torcello. We only knew we were having lunch on the third island so one just expects a run of the mill lunch for a group of 12. What a gorgeous restaurant, so authentic Italian, nothing touristy about it. The waiting staff were very professional, one especially was nice and friendly.... More

David and Gillian's review has been posted to the wrong restaurant (I think they meant the hotel on Guidecca, which is also perhaps surprising). This wonderful place is on Torcello island, some way out of Venice by boat, just past Burano. However, it truly deserves the trip. The location alone is lovely. Guests have lunch outside, beside the garden which... More

We took a day trip to Burano, Murano, and Toretello where Cipriani is location and are so glad we went! The food was excellent, we had veggie Risotto and a mixed seafood plate- we would give a 9/10. Both meals were cooked perfectly. Above average prices, but worth it for the quality and experience. The service was fine, but expect... More

Simple, elegant furnishings combined with polite, attentive service and culinary delights based on reinterpretations of typical Venetian dishes which created the "Cipriani style" are the ingredients that have gone into the success of each and every one of Giuseppe Cipriani's restaurants. Still today, they make the Locanda Cipriani in Torcello a cut above the rest. Unlike the surrounding triumphant landscapes with the churches and the blooms in the garden, the Locanda Cipriani, designed as a rustic maison d'hôte, receives its guests in a simple, almost austere environment dominated by wooden ceilings, terracotta bricks covering the walls decorated in Venetian bas-reliefs, and old copper pots and pitchers hanging here and there. he restaurant has two large rooms, both with large windows overlooking the garden. Diners can sit on the outdoor terrace in summer. The garden, is open from the beginning of spring right through to autumn. The blooming daisies, tulips, roses and dahlias, the golden pomegranate trees and the fiery red of the Virginia creeper vines combine to provide beautiful surroundings for the restaurant.. Every day, the "maitre pâtissier" creates a vast assortment of sweet snacks, bavarois, cream cakes, meringues, sorbets, biscuits and chocolates. Our maître carefully selects a range of Italian wines - with an emphasis on those from Friuli and Veneto regions - to provide the perfect accompaniment to the food. The kitchen, headed up by chef Cristian Angiolin, not only serves dishes invented by the Cipriani family and now considered classics - such as 'carpaccio' of raw meat and John Dory 'alla Carlina' - but also offers a whole range of dishes featuring fish, vegetables, home-made pasta and rice.
