The worst Restaurant ever we joined in Venice. Expensive and really bad food. I do not know, what the profession of the cook ist - but for sure it is not cooking. Dirty glasses - bad, unfriendly service.

This restaurant has attracted interesting reactions from people - strongly for and strongly against. We went on the recommendation of a frequent visitor to Venice. We were pleased with our meal. Yes, it is a little pricey but we were prepared to pay more for...More

Honestly, one of the worst meals out I can remember. The starter and main were both tasteless and fatty. Literally tasted of nothing. Really nothing good to say... Nice enough staff, but clearly have no training in complaints management. If you're the manager and you...More

Our family of 5 enjoyed a delicious meal at this restaurant close by our apartment. The children all enjoyed perfectly cooked, richly flavoured pasta. We shared the deep fried zucchini flowers in a very light batter and an excellent eggplant parmigiana (oh so good!) for...More

Avoid Ai Gondolieri. There are numerous far better places nearby - don't go here if you expect a good, sensitively prepared meal! The dining rooms are pretty and it appears to be a place where fine dining happens, but instead at Ai Gondolieri the pretense...More

Decided to try this place based on some good reviews but left feeling extremely ripped off. The menu sounds good and the food was presented nicely, but tasted average. Unfortunately the English menu wasn't translated properly. I ordered the Nettle pasta with Smoked Ricotta and...More

Popped in here for a quick lunch after going to the Guggenheim. It catches your eye as you walk along a canal and up over one of Venice's little bridges. It has an inviting menu featuring all the usuals. We shared a starter of mushroom...More

Description
Ai Gondolieri restaurant in Venice is something special in the Venice dining scene – a kitchen that concentrates its menu on meaty dishes of the mainland rather than the typically fishy fare of most other eateries here. A short walk from the Guggenheim Museum and the Accademia (take vaporetto 1 or 82), Ai Gondolieri enjoys a magically romantic setting in a genuinely old inn with its own arched bridge over a picture-postcard canal. The dining rooms are not splashy or over-decorated, with wood panelling, modern seating, white table linens, ceiling fans. Nevertheless this place attracts the starriest visitors to Venice, from presidents to film stars. The upmarket menu changes seasonally, featuring dishes like deep-fried stuffed zucchini flowers, breaded deep-fried lamb served beautifully pink, superb steaks, excellent risotto. Your host will chat in English with you about the all-Italian menu.
