My boyfriend took me to the Riviera restaurant whilst we were on a surprise trip to Venice. He did some research and, after finding this to be one of the best restaurants in Venice, booked us a table several months in advance. We were actually a little late arriving on the evening due to me wearing a ridiculous pair of... More

Had a wonderful meal here recently. The restaurant is located in a non-touristy section of Venice, which only served to enhance the walk back and forth. The owner was extremely gracious and conversant and his attitude permeated the entire staff. The food was sensational and the specials with White Truffles were the most reasonably priced I have eaten anywhere.

We had a lovely diner there. Owner very friendly, service very good and excellent food. The sea bass in salt was particularly tasty

My husband organised my birthday lunch here with a group of our friends. He chose it because we ate here last year & loved it. Heaven knows why I didn't review it last year! The meal was perfect; we had a good range of choices & the wine list is local & superb. The whole baked sea bass was the... More

We had dinner here because of a festive celebration. The owner came to meet us at our table, as he did with every table. Great fine dining food and large wine list. Very good service and nice view over the canal.

We loved this restaurant! I really wanted to go here for dinner as it was recommended by our hotel (Hotel Moresco), and for the beautiful location on the waterfront, and the good Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to book a table online, so we stopped by to see if we could reserve a table for two that... More

Me and my girlfriend went to riviera for Valentine's Day this year. It was an unbelievable dining experience- the food , the wine , the surroundings were all second to none. The head waiter was very attentive. Also the owner was fantastic. Had a lot of time for us. The food was spectacular, the best dining experience I've ever had... More

From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we knew that the recommendation was well merited. The service hit exactly that balance of attentive with leaving you to enjoy the evening, and we had a great table in the back room. The food was superb, and special thanks go not just to the waiting staff, but also to the owner... More

Travelling end of October for halfterm with 7 year old. We had dinner here. Restaurant was very accommodating for children. Food was inventive, fresh and very tasty. I loved all the combinations of carpaccio of fish and matched flavours for a starter (like Salmon and Vanilla!). Little one had lavender lamb and courgette flan which she loved. Dessert was excellent... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
