Our hotel recommended this place for a good home cooked Venetian meal. We enjoyed the pasta dishes, as well as their pizza. The majority of the clientele was Italian while we were there.

Not the easiest to find, as other reviews mention, this place is tucked away with minimal signage - but worth the effort! Traditional decor, nothing too fancy because the food speaks for itself. We had a pizza each, great dough base with fresh tomato sauce and delicious toppings - we couldn't recommend it enough! Dessert was Tiramisu - the best... More

Following the recommendation of our local guide we found that we liked this restaurant so much that having enjoyed a pizza lunch we returned for an evening meal as well. For dinner we chose, from a wide choice menu, Italian veal with mushroom and cream sauce with side breads and a carafe of local red wine. This was followed by... More

Most of the pizzas are excellent and while a few of them were no more than simply average, the price and the 80% chance of getting the best pizza you'll eat in Venice makes this place well worth visiting. Both couple and family-friendly.

We were delighted to find this place near our hotel, as we were travelling with children tired of fussy restaurants. Casa Mia is very simple, service is prompt, and the menu is perfect for a family craving simple pizzas and pasta. A meal for 4 including wine and one dessert cost us 55 euro, and the kids cleaned their plates.

The quality of the tiramisu saved this restaurant from receiving a one star. It was delicious. We persevered through three courses to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt after reading some very good reviews. The cheese starter was generous but flavourless. The roast peppers were equally as flavourless. The two pasta dishes were very ordinary and could have... More

My husband and I have been to this place tonight. It is a scam! I was sitting just in front of the pizza oven at the entrance and, being a good observer I could see that only one out of 10 pizzas actually come from there. The other ones, including the ones that my husband and I had, come from... More

Me and my boyfriend visited this restaurant on Monday night! We had pizzas and a drink and I have to say that it was delicious! We walked in without a reservation and we were told it was fully booked and to try and come back in 15 minutes for a table. Truth to their words we came back and seated... More

Trattoria Casa Mia is a great little restaurant tucked away in Venice. Away in an alley this place offers great Italian food for all tastes and choices. It has limited hours of service and it is a busy place at night. You will love the food. Service was awesome too!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
