Famous for their Polppetini, breaded (and bready) little fried meatballs, that are more like little croquettes, they also have a full restaurant, which we didn't try. But the small glasses of house wine and little snacks were great.

This place was recommended to us by the guide book in our flat, and on this occasion it didn't meet our expectations. The atmosphere was quite cosy, but I wouldn't really say the staff were friendly. After they eventually found our reservation, we were shown...More

We came here as one of the stops on our Venice Bites Progressive Dinner Food Tour. We had magnificent meatballs and some of their wonderful house white wine. The ambiance, the history, and of course the food, of this traditional Venetian spot are not to...More

Despite being a busy night we received quick and friendly counter service. We ordered several small plates from the counter display and all were great! Get the fried meatballs!

Down a small side alley from a main thoroughfare you will find a warm, friendly local restaurant, with great regional food, good house wine, friendly service and one open late. This is a busy restaurant, especially late, and a joy. No touristy feel here.

We saved Ca D'Oro all Vedova for our last dinner in Venice, we had heard great comments on their authentic Venician food. We ordered the meatballs (a specialty of theirs) which were OK- nothing special but not disappointing either. For our second course we all...More

Trattoria Ca' d'Oro alla Vedova is located somewhere hided in the Cannaregio district. Yet tourists & locals alike find the restaurant. When we came on a weekday the place was packed. Ca' d'oro is managed by the same family since the late 19th century. The...More

We made reservations here last night. Small restaurant, good staff. We tried the infamous meatballs (2 euros each) but I have no idea what all the hype is about. They were dry and had no flavor. My husband ordered the clams with pasta and I...More

This was my second visit. The staff at this place is very nice. We had verdure, clam pasta and polenta with squid ink. I can't complain about anything. I probably won't be dreaming about the food here anytime soon. Everything was made simply with fresh...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

Not for the bar. Recommend you stay for dinner - you'll need a reservation for that. Gets very busy on Sunday evenings too.
