It is our last day in Italy! Our Airbnb host recommended this place and what a find!!! If you go at 13:00 you won't get in the door but we waited till 13:30 and got a table. Delicious food!! Staff were really friendly and explained everything on the menu. Big portions & well priced for Venice. I'm sure you can... More

I was wondering whether I should share our "secret find" - because next time we go there I would still want to enjoy the quaint setting and not be blown away with too many tourists. But here you go - they just deserve a stellar Tripadvisor review and rating. We found this spot by pure coincidence, wandering through the city... More

Be warned Google maps will map you to a different location, make sure you reverify your search. The place is tiny and seats less than 20 reservation is a must especially for dinner. My wife and I lucked out with lunch because as we walked in a table cleared up in 5 minutes. The wine selection is manageable, 5-10 of... More

Small place that had a mix of some tourists and locals. Definitely make a reservation because there aren't a lot of tables. The menu is on a blackboard and it's only in Italian so that probably limits the number of tourists. Service great especially in translating the menu. Food was great. Loved the intimate vibe. Price was very reasonable. House... More

We loved this place! Great house wine, antipasti and cozy setting. Small local place where you just show up and hope for a table, and if nothing available just eat ciccheti outside while enjoying more of that house wine I mentioned.

They had two vegetarian entrees that were quite tasty. They also made a vegetarian cichetti custom for us that was really delicious. Prices were very reasonable for Venice. We did have to make a reservation because the place only has a few tables

This is one of the fun small places with great real Venice cooking . You can always enjoy the small plates with a glass of the local wine. Suggest you have a reservation . If only having a small plate you might take it outside and use the barrel by the entrance as a table.

The cicchetti are superb. And they change daily. Great wine(s) and very helpful staff. No language problems here. Just great food and atmosphere! So stand at the counter like the locals, order some house wine and graze on the local fare. Just wonderful!

This is a great place and you need to book if you want a table. But you don't have to book if you're happy to stand and have a selection of their tasty cichetti (Venetian finger food). We had steak tartare as a starter, and two delicious pasta dishes to follow. The quality of food and friendly service is superb,... More

If you want to have an authentic cicchetti experience while in Venice this is the place! I was traveling with my mom and husband through Italy for 3 weeks. We did a cooking class in Tuscany and our chef recommended we come to this place while we were in Venice. I am so glad we did! It was a little... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
