Nice wine selection and petite sandwiches. All priced to sell. This is a great stop for an inexpensive snack. The wine selection is vast, and immediate. The sandwiches are displayed up front behind glass. You pick your wine, then your sandwich and find a place to lean, sit or squat in the square. Return your glasses and the market is... More

As everyone else has stated a must visit to this tidy tiny bar. We grabbed 2 ham rolls, 2 small beers for 8 euros. Found a quiet spot in the sun, watched the people go about their business. Brillaint stop whilst wondering the streets of Venice.

Lovely place to stop and have a snack or spend an evening sampling the chichetti - the lasagna was particularly lovely. Wine is very reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly. One of the best places we visited in Venice.

There were always locals eating and drinking here. The spritz and wine were excellent and very reasonably priced and the little cicheti were amazing. It really is the best and cheapest way to eat in Venice. A bar crawl, or giro di ombre, is the best way to try Venice's bacari.

Spent part of a rainy evening here and hung out with a lot of locals and college students. Compared to the rest of Venice the drinks and food were a bargain. After a long day we hung out here for an hour or 2 before heading off to dinner. Later when we walked by there were a lot of young... More

Great stop for a drink (excellent Bellini's) and to soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the piazza. Note the operational hours though, I think they are open from 10:00 - 14:30 and 18:00 - 20:00, but stand to be corrected - info on the web is not correct.

The place is located in a very popular place near Rialto bridge so it is a perfect pick for a stop during sightseeing tour. In Venice it is difficult to become unique at anything. Their niche are original bread with a great quality meat. As all good places they are regularly overcrowded so we were forced to give up 2-3... More

Just a hop off Rialto Bridge, this bar is one of the many very popular wine bars in the area attracting young local crowds and tourists alike. The wine is sold by the glass at very reasonable rates and if you prefer to go it with a cheese and meat platter, there is really nice deli just next door offering... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
