There are things to like about this osteria. The staff were attentive and helpful. The overall atmosphere was quite lively and inviting. On my visit most of the clients seemed to local. The food however was average, at least my two dishes. For example, the veal in my cotoletta alla Milanese was cooked okay, but the coating was too dark... More

we have been there for a family dinner, with somewhat good expectations. we left rather disappointed. the dishes that we took were ok,but nothing to make you leave satisfied with the dinner. the taste of the dishes was mediocre, and the proportions of the ingredients seemed rather wrong to me:too much pecorino in one case,to much salt in another case, too little fish... Our experience only lasted 5 min, just the time to tell us in a very rude way that we had to move the pram from the entrance where other people were queueing like us. When we said that we needed a table for 2 plus space for a pram, we where told "it's difficult, impossible, better no". So we left.... More

This is a small homey restaurant full of locals on the Navigci canal (a district well worth the visit for its markets, music, restaurants, bars and arty feel). The menu was regional and contained imaginative authentic dishes. But above all the level of cooking was perfect. I have rarely tasted a whole meal so well prepared and cooked. I really... More

We visited Milan this Christmas and ate at La Vigne because it was recommended by our AirB&B hostess. We were staying along the canal in the Ticinese area, so it was a short walk. There are two small dining rooms. All four of us had pasta - everything from a simple pasta pomadoro to a pasta with venison. All of... More

It is a traditional restaurant, with typical meals from Milano. It is on Naviglio, great place to have dinner! We took a spaghetti alla vongole and a milanese cotoletta. Both were very good, quantity is sufficient! Service is nice, they don t speak well english but that means they are perfect italians? :)

8 girls ordered 5 different dishes. Some of them unfortunately besides being cold, inedible. It was disappointing from all aspects: tasteless food, unfriendly service and it seemed that the owner had a few too many drinks on top of it all. The wine we had was good. Not recommended!

I believe that the true best meals in life are the ones not in 5 star restaurants (where you expect greatness... which comes with a bit of pretentiousness), but in down-home joints where the diners are everyday people enjoying great food, at reasonable prices. I almost cried at the delicious simplicity of my burrata and artichoke appetizer, and again when... More

Staying in Navigli

Neighbourhood Profile
Navigli
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.
