The signature dish (Rabbit) was amazing but much too salty. We also had a very expensive fish from the Michelin star menu next door. Breaded fish which seemed to have been in the freezer too long...salty and dryed up. No attempt to learn. The attitude on our complaint was not appropriate from such an expensive place. No replacement offered. No... More

modern and elegant, in its simplicity, restaurant with very attentive and friendly staff. Specialties of the local cuisine, but treated witha light hand. ravioli di zucca, luccio, gnocchi, insalata di finocchi-aneto-arane-stracciatella were superb. Excellent wine list

Location is fantastic, just few steps from Sordello square. Ambience is nice, however very simple and not so rich. Menu selection is very tipical, however all meat based, an no English language. Food quality is good. Service is very good. Dinner price is about 50 Euros per person.

Causy little street at the older part of Mantova. Little restaurant with a good service and delicious food. I had "carciofi in casseruola" as a starter from side dishes menu which was very tasty and then had "coniglio" as main course which was a perfect choice. Not to forget the great Tuscan red wine Tignanello!

Seems to me like this place is resting on the laurels of the next door restaurant a bit too much. It was .... nice? Fine? I don't know, something was lacking. Good charcuterie, and very nice pumpkin ravioli (local dish). But the other dishes were badly conceived and disappointing, in particular the cod and artichoke, which was a dish entirely... More

I came in literally at closing. The courteous waiter informed me of it but said they would serve me notwithstanding. I ordered all my courses at once. While he was hurried with his duties, I noticed he still did everything so as not to rush me. When he approached the table he was as calm and mannered as probably during... More

We had a nice lunch in the courtyard of this centrally situated yet quiet restaurant. This was the second time we've had a meal here, and the food was excellent on both occasions and can be highly recommended. As it was a hot day we were delighted to be guided to a table under the shades in the large courtyard.... More

We were looking for Aquila Nigra, a Michelin starred restaurant on a hot sunny day and were disappointed to find that the rather dark restaurant didn't have a terrace where we could lunch. It is very conveniently located down a very narrow street just opposite the entrance to the Palazzo Ducale. Almost reluctantly, the charming maitre d' said we could... More

Frankly, based on the reviews, this place is under-rated. Pretty place, old historic building with frescoes with modern accents. The food was excellent. Hand made pastas were awesome, all the ingredients fresh as can be. Everyone loved the pumpkin tortelli. We were there for lunch, no one else around. They took very good care of us, despite the language barrier.... More

We found this delightful restaurant just round the corner from the Palazzo Castiglioni where we were staying. A rather unprepossessing exterior lead into a typical restaurant interior. When we were asked if we wanted to sit in or out we were puzzled. We had not passed any tables outside. We were led through to a beautiful courtyard with lush greenery... More

Description
It's an annexe of the Aquila Nigra. The name is a warranty anyway, but it is also a clear and direct description of the location, next to the main restaurant and communicating with it. The two restaurants share the same entrance, but their styles are completely different. Andrea considers this place as something different, it's not a satellite of the Aquila Nigra. The Porta Accanto is a more informal and easy way of experiencing the food and the conviviality. It has the same Renaissance style and atmosphere but with a modern touch to make you feel at ease.
