We walked briskly from the obelisk area to get there before they closed at 2:30 pm. The restaurant was packed and the owner said the restaurant was closed. But then, he saw my crestfallen (and sweaty) face and set up a table for us. The mixed seafood appetizer was great and the seafood soup was amazing. We wanted to come... More

I think this can be one of the best restaurant in Trieste! The quality of the food is certainly amazing, and the price for it is surprisingly low. It is like sitting in the dining room of your old house, with some friends (including the fantastic couple of person that own the place). This is the first place I would... More

This place is for locals, the premises are basic, it's a kind of relic of the working class restaurants of the seventies. The fish is super fresh and cooked at the moment. A must if you want to understand the pupular culture of Trieste

Very welcoming little spot just off the Main Street in Trieste. Typical Italian layout with something of a nautical theme. I had a local dish which consisted of various cuts of meat from a wonderful creature, from the genus Sus, the pig. Accompanying the meat was some delicious fried potato and cabbage. All samples were extremely tasty, though the warm... More

We had a three course meal with wine which cost only a little over 60 Euro. Started with the mixed seafood antipasto. Then had pasta with a fish ragu. And finished with simple grilled fish (didn't recognise the Italian name but it looked similar to a Red Gurnard) with polenta. It is definitely not a luxury restaurant, but I enjoyed... More

The food was overwhelmingly poor. Relatively inexpensive for seafood but that is meaningless if it isn't good. Maybe it was the chef's day off. There would be dozens of better places to eat in Trieste.

I hasten to caution anyone not to be deceived by the "reservations required" postings that might suggest Antipastoteca di Mare is an excellent restaurant. I would score the service as being worse than the food we ordered, but since we chose to leave immediately after receiving the seafood platter we ordered, my opinion may not have a strong foundation. A... More

This restaurant is set in a neighborhood above the main part of the city and parking wasn't easy, but it was well worth the effort. We had the soup with mussels, beans and potatoes and of course the famous fish soup, as well as handmade pasta with clams and finally sardines and polenta. All of it was served by the... More

Ariston is a greek word meaning the best. That is exactly what this restaurant deserves as a rating. One has to note that it is not a michelin awarded restaurant nor does it claim to be one. It is a tiny place with not more than 30 seatings and a vivacious lean and tall Italian chef-owner running around to serve... More

This is an informal restaurant, with simple and rustic decoration. It's a bit hidden and not easy to find. Robi, the owner and chef received us with a welcoming smile. He explained the menu and specials of the day and gave us time to think. His mussels, bean and potato soup is unique! Don't miss it! Also the fish soups... More
