Walked in at 7:10pm without booking, luckily one last table available. Small restaurant seats 30. ordered the most popular of tortellini with meat broth and tagliatelle ragu. Both were excellent, worth the visit.

Excellent intimate and authentic bolognese restaurant. Tucked away on a quiet side street, east to find and wonderful food!

Fantastic ambient Location with authentic bolognaise cuisine. We enjoyed all the dishes and the staff, likely the owners were extremely friendly and caring. We can recommend the pecorino with honey, the zucchini carpaccio. The lasagne, the tortellini in broth and Creme caramel - the fizzy...White House wine was a great companion as well. Best food in four days of Bologna, lovely location and outstanding value for money ❤️More

My family and i were really excited to go to this restaurant after hearing great from people who have gone to Bologna. We thought it was convenient that there was a booking option on their website instead of calling. We booked this for our last...night. When we turned up at 8pm, we were promptly told they were fully booked. I tried to explain that I had booked and in fact my name came up on their booking system but the lady curtly said that they didn’t accept it. It was incredibly disappointing the lady didn’t offer any explanation as to why my reservation had been cancelled even though it was on their system. If it is a faulty booking system then why have it on their website. I understand this also happened to three other ladies who were there. We were left incredibly disappointed on our last evening with no where to go.More

Excellent! A small family restaurant with authentic Bolognese food. One very busy lady takes orders and serves twenty some tables. She is very efficient. The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. You must have a reservation.

The trattoria located in a quiet street off the beaten path was nearly booked out on an early Wednesday evening, which tells its own story. We were given a table sitting outside, the greeting was very friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty and...great value for money. I would love to recommend this restaurant if you want to experience true Italian hospitality and food .More

I had an amazing lunch at Trattoria Valerio, where I enjoyed the true taste of Bologna. The food was fantastic: I had tortelloni, cotoletta alla bolognese and creme caramel, all enjoyed with a very tasty local beer. Everything is made fresh in the house and...it is just unbelievably good. Service was great, very friendly staff and the place itself has a rustic intimate atmosphere. It is the perfect place to taste some of the traditional food of Bologna far from the big crowds. Highly recommended!!More

I never normally write reviews BUT... Went to this restaurant through a recommendation of ours. I honestly cannot even try to explain what amount of disrespect we just went through. We were the only costumers in the restaurant with no music on, meaning we could...hear every thing. We heard the microwave go on and ping after two mins, whereupon we saw the waitress take the lasagna out. Upon that I confronted her asking whether our food is microwaved and she lied to us saying it was not. In the kitchen they went on whispering and laughing at our food thinking we had no idea what was going on, although we could see every single thing in the mirror. I then saw her whisper to the chef before she put the lasagne in the oven to make it seem as it was fresh. One minute after that, the waitress pretended it was in there the whole time even though I literally saw her take our lasagne out the microwave. When our food arrived, surprise surprise, it was stone cold. We confronted her and the chef came out of the kitchen laughing at us admitting he’s been lying. We walked out immediately and they said nothing. All you could see was their embarrassed laughing faces. I feel deeply disrespected. I told them Money does not grow on trees and for them to not even admit to their lies is utterly beyond belief. Please don’t waste your money in such an amazing city with restaurants like trattoria valerio. They disrespect their costumers with no remorse.More

Excellent - a perfect venue for our first night in Bologna. A little off the beaten track but worth rooting out - we’d booked in advance via email which was easy enough and greeted warmly on arrival. Food was simple but delicious - tagliatelle ragu...and gramagni el salsicce probably the best pasta course of the weekend. All other diners locals with a lively mix of young, old, families and couples made for a nice vibe. Quiet and unassuming with only a handful of tables but if authentic and homely’s your thing then this is one not to be missed.More

Wonderful place for dinner. My companion and I both ordered ragu as a starter, and the pasta was phenomenal. As a main I had friggione con salsiccia, which was very simple but incredible nice. The decor is quaint and a bit rickety, but absolutely charming....The service was exemplary.More

We had an relaxing dinner on a chilly rainy night. This is a very small restaurant that seats 24. The interior looks like a camp with knotty pine walls. Lots of newspaper and photographic history. Very warm and comforting atmosphere. Italians (we were the only...tourists) enjoying dinner. White wine: house, 1/2L, €5. Some body with good refreshing acidity. Simple green salad. Red wine: house. Meh. Thin, very acidic. Red wine: Centorione Sangiovese Ferruci, 1/2 bottle, €8. OK. Gramigna - pasta with spicy sausage. Almost invisible cream sauce. Very good. ++ Excellent service from our Ukrainian-born waiter who speaks 5 languages. + Apple Pay. + House white wine 0 Thick paper napkins 0 Thick paper "tablecloths" - Wi-Fi "not available" €49 for dinner for 2More

I cannot praise this restaurant enough. It is small and family run. Not a lot of tables so you definitely need to book! The food here is absolutely amazing. I think it is as good as some of the Michelin Italian restaurants in London! The...pasta is amazing. I had the tortellini (everything is homemade) which was mouth watering! Had this other places in Bologna but no where near as good ! My husband had the tagliatelle ragu. Exquisite! Pasta was thin and silky smooth. Followed this by veal escalope - again excellent. The house wine is good too! We went on. Friday and wanted to go again the next night but they were already fully booked. Note - they are closed Sunday. Really sad not to go there again! Oh and the whole meal with wine and dessert and coffee was only €60!More
