As others have stated, we dined here on the advice from a local. In our case, it was our young driver who picked us up from the airport and took us to our hotel. He stated that he and his family ate here about twice a month and it was very good. Food and wine selection was very, very good.... More

We walked a lot to find this place- recommended by friend, we had reservation for inside, they managed to find table outside as we wanted, food was good, roman classic food, service was good, we enjoyed our meals a lot. Will come back next time, there are some dishes yet to discover

I'm not sure why some review are bad, sure the waiters can be abrupt but that is the norm for a busy popular restaurant. we arrived at opening time and earned a table outside with a broad smile. By 20h00 they were turning people away. Enjoyed a great meal of pasta and crumbed lamb cutlets with local fried starters and... More

Matricianella is something of an institution in Rome - it reliably provides classic roman dishes as they were meant to be, with an extensive wine list, that has something for virtually every price point. It can be very busy so is best to book a table

We visited on a friends recommendation and what a disappointment. Our main courses were saltimbocca all romana (very poor), Lambs kidneys with artichoke (tasteless and over cooked) and carbonara (this was fine). We had artichoke giudia as a shared side and this wasn't too good either. The wine (paterno, Lazio) was excellent. The service was OK but not helpful and... More

After a fabulous visit to the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel we walked about 30 minutes to the restaurant recommended by an Italian friend. We were lucky to get a table ( we sat inside as there was no space on the roadside tables) and it was packed full. A superb Mozzarella with tomatoes, olive oil and balsamico was... More

Another nice discovery based on recommendations we read and it's a bit off the beaten path. Host who was not too friendly told us to wait but did not give specifics. Waiter offered recommendations , food was great, but he forgot the coffee we kept waiting and just didn't remind him anymore as it seems they were getting ready to... More

A lovely place with typical proper Italian decor and professional waiters. Good menu with plenty of choice without being too elaborate. There is a chefs suggestion at the front with 3 primi and 3 secondi and a selection of fritti veg. We had a fried artichoke Jewish style to share. A wonderful fettuccini with spinach and porchini cooked as perfectly... More

Had a very nice dinning experience. Food of very high quality, exceptional wine list and great friendly service. A great steak cooked perfectly and the chicken cacciatore was beautiful. On that basis, you would expect that all meals would be very nice. Good value and would recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is in a great location. However it is let down by: Inattentive staff. Not tourist friendly. Food basic and overpriced. Much better available in Rome.
