You'll love this place in the moment you'll enter it! The atmosphere is very particular, the food is delicious as homemade, the portions are quite generous, and the "fritti" (fried appetizers) are as an italian mom would do them. You will find a reduced menu at lunch time, and a wider selection at dinner time. Sometimes there's a long queue... More

We were recommended this restaurant by the receptionist at our hotel on the first night. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty but all of the tables were booked. We waited for 20 minutes for a couple to finish their meal and before being seated. The wait was well worth it. No nonsense, basic Italian food that was delicious... More

Based our visit on the reviews. Food was fine and the restaurant was very busy... clearly a very popular place! Nice pizza - my pasta was very 'al dente' but okay. Small front section opens up to large back space. Service pleasant but not as friendly and engaging as we have experienced elsewhere. Only house wine available by glass, but... More

In an overall fair price, you will change your mind on what carbonara should taste. We tried the house pizza, and the balance of tastes was great, the spaggetti carbonara, which was a revelation and the house wine which was nice. La Fraschetta is definitely a place to eat while in Rome, and most certainly a place I'll revisit when... More

We were in rome for 8 days. Ate here 3 times. Pizza was perfect, pasta was outstanding, service was great, lamb was delicious. This is my favorite restaurant that we visited the entire time. 2 people dined for less than 50eu with wine. Absolutely love this place.

Had a lovely evening here! Excellent service Delicious food! Never disappoints! Pizzas were great Allowed for personal choice of ingredients. No rushing us out We sat and finished our wine in a very relaxed atmosphere - although the place was packed!

Understating that this is a local's spot, with reasonably priced dishes and a great wood fired oven pizza - you really can't go wrong. Don't expect the best meal of your life but if you are looking for a classic trattoria meal under €75, then welcome to your spot. The location is perfect for bar hoping afterwards since the Trastevere... More

I had one thing in mind when I decided to book this small trip to Italy, pasta. I told the receptionist I traveled far to eat the best they have to offer. She can see in my eyes I was a man that was determined to reignite my childhood memories. She gave me a back up plan just in case... More

Was recommended this restaurant by a colleague who lives in Rome. You would never call in if walking past! It has a very small entrance and small front eating area, but much bigger in the back. Old style italian with garlic strings hanging from roof. We went on a cold evening in January and it was packed! Lots of locals... More

"La Fraschetta" di via San Francesco a Ripa è caratteristico, intimo e grazioso; propone un servizio cordiale e brillante, candidandosi senza difficoltà sia come ideale rifugio per una coppia in cerca di riservatezza sia per cene di lavoro e ritrovi amicali in una cornice neorustica e famigliare. La cucina, tendenzialmente vincolata alla nostra adorabile tradizione romana, spazia, con stile, dalla coda alla vaccinara agli spaghetti alla carbonara. Dolci sempre fatti in casa. Molto buona la carta dei vini; non mancano bianco e rosso della casa. Il locale è stato inaugurato nel 1976: lo staff proviene dalle esperienze di Ciceruacchio e Meo Patacca.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
