Spirito Divino is located in a fascinating ancient building in the Trastevere. The hosts are charming and very attentive, but the food was by far the most mediocre we had in Rome. I began with a artichoke pie, a special addition to the menu. Although it was fine, it was not wonderful. I then had the chicken meatballs in clergy... More

We went to Spirito Divino to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. The food was delicious and not your typical Italian fare that is everywhere in Rome. The decor is pleasant and subtly elegant (the building is incredibly old and even has the original walls of the synagogue that it once was). The real treasure here is the wine list. We... More

Following the recommendation of our hotel staff, we walked to Trastevere for our dinner reservation. The owner of the establishment met us, and showed us to our table. His conversation started with the history of the building, which he claims to be older than the colosseo... then he was in a rush to get our order (a bit hasty and... More

More than a bit "out of the way", but the cabbies can find it. Small, family run establishment. Interesting historical location. Great food, excellent service, and the wine recommended turned out to be superb.

Honestly it felt like a circus! We got the bread after we had our first course. The red wine was served after we had our main course. No one seemed to give a damn. The wine was great. The food was overprized. We were not asked if we wanted dessert. Not ever coming back

Our conversation was interrupted by a loud snore coming from the table next to ours — someone was catching a nap between courses. Not unexpected, because the chaotic service made this evening out uncomfortable: we had to find our own table / endless, repetitive story by the owner about the building’s history / got the wine list only after the... This is truly a cant miss evening and this review from a foodie from a food capital. Think of a night at your favorite aunts home with your favorite family members. Outstanding food and a truly welcoming experience. Perhaps a bit overmatched on a hectic saturday night but otherwise,a highlight dinner.camponeschi may have roman style but this was, what dining out... More

With over 9,000 restaurants in Rome...how does one find a 'keeper'? We did! If you enjoy innovative food, a varied and quite fairly priced wine list plus a great staff, a great history, and totally involved ownership---get here! Francesco and his family make it happen...DO IT... and we can't wait to do it again!

OMG, oops pardon my French. Mama Mia this was just what the jet-lagged body needed. Roman Italian at its best! From the venue to the kitchen to the wine cellar to the menu to THE staff! Warm and welcoming, "you pick your favorite-looking table"! Easy to read menu in both Italian and English with just enough selections to notice you... More

This was our second meal at Spirito DiVino. The solid quality of this family run restaurant is evident in its personal service at each table. The owner and his son circulate and chat with all the customers making sure your dinner is just what you wanted. The restaurant is the part of the charm. Not only is the restaurant on... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
