Stopped in here for lunch before visiting St. Peter's basilica. We thought it was excellent, with great service. It was nice to be somewhere a few blocks off the beaten path without throngs of people. We seemed to be the only tourists.

Delicious, authentic dishes, helpful service and a warm, inviting dining room made this one of our favorites. The Rigatoni Norcini is a not to be missed specialty. The Veal Saltimbocca is excellent as well. To enjoy sampling more of their delicious menu, consider sharing a antipasti and a first or second course among two. Their house wine and desserts are... While we were waiting for lunch all the desserts arrived and got put in the glass case...it made everyone at the table drool. We were not disappointed, especially the apricot tart! I had the spaghetti with meatballs and the pomodoro sauce was truly good with nice little chunks of tomato in it. Everyone's meal was delicious, and the sever was... More

This italian restaurant near the Vaticane and St. Peters Church is in a busy street, but with a modest facade. Locals and priests eat there, and if you find it you will discover the best spaghetti with meatballs. The waiter is like the actor Buster Keaton, not a smile, stoneface - but very efficient and he offer a good service.... More

we were part of a large group that dined here last week. The ambiance was amazing and the food was rustic. Everyone had a fabulous time. Someone in our group has been dining there for over 53 years. very amiable service and pleasant atmosphere.

I cannot believe how so many people have given this restaurant 4 or 5 star reviews. This was the only restaurant in Rome where the pizzas were poor and where we were ripped off (and we were in Rome for 7 days eating out for evey meal). I should have realised when we were pounced on by the restaurant's tout... More

The service here was not the friendliest but the Rigatoni alla Norcina was spectacular. I don't remember what anyone else ordered but I kept looking for an opportunity to get back to this restaurant for more norcina. Alas, it will have to wait for another trip.

We had a nice lunch after visiting the vatican. Pasta was good. Fish was better when we added more garlic and olive oil sauce. Good beer. Perfect experience. Excellent location near St Peters and the Vatican Museum

First, if you looked for typical romans food, this would be one place you should have your lunch or dinner, after visiting the Basilica of Saint Peter. You will feel the atmosfere of Antique Restaurant inside with typical Romans Food. The waiter will suggest you and give you many information as long as you ask. Second, the food was very... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
