We were about to go for a roof table but everything was booked so we were routed to this Italian pizzeria. This is really a nice place with a modern style but not too much. The waiter knew a bit of French that was even better! We have the famous spritz which was very good, pizzas, pasta and an apple... More

Our hotel recommended Cotto, describing it as a “modern atmosphere, with traditional food,” so we decided to try it out for dinner. We opted to sit outside as they had a very nice patio tucked away from the main street. (Although this did not stop street vendors from coming up & attempting to sell us things while we were eating.)... More

Stopped in for an impromptu lunch on my first day in the city. Had a simple sausage and mushroom pizza with beer on the sunny patio. The pizza was excellent with an exquisite crispy thin crust (as it should be!). Staff were attentive and patient with my poor Italian language skills. I would return for dinner.

We visited Rome for the weekend for our anniversary and found this restaurant after a visit to the theatre down the road. Very friendly and helpful staff made us feel very welcome, so much so we visited again during our trip. The food was great, we tried seabass, beef cheeks & also the pasta, all were lovely. The prosecco was... More

I ate there once because I liked the place while passing by and second time because I could not find anything else open. Atmosphere is fantastic, fresh and cool. Food not that great... plates are flat in taste, lacking flavor of even simple ingredients (like olive oil): vegan pizza bad, veal fillet was lacking a good sauce (veal was good... More

Sitting in a sunny alley having food is the upside. The downside for us is that we had different dishes and all were way over salted. And the price-including a daft cover charge - does not match the quality. We spent a week in Rome ate well and by far this was the worst eating experience.

Excellent food - for both meat eaters and vegans. One of the few restaurants in Rome that understands vegans, and will change their menu accordingly. Very modern restaurant.

Food is ok. Staff is pleasant. But with so many great restaurants in Rome with lower prices, better food, and Romans eating rather than tourists, I'm not sure why you would come here.

Dear uws10024 thank you very much for your kind feedback. If you come to visit our restaurant during the Marathon days in Rome probably you should expect to dine with other tourists. Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
