We ordered two bowls of pasta and 2 glasses of red wine - the waiter asked if Chianti was ok - we stupidly said yes.... pasta perfectly nice but when the bill arrived we realized we'd been charged 26 euros for the 2 glasses of wine - more fool us for not asking for the wine list....all I can say... Very expensive, rude waiters and dreadful food. Location was nice - only redeeming feature. Be selective in Rome!

My husband and I stopped at Sabatini a couple weeks ago just looking to get a nibble and a glass of wine before our dinner reservation elsewhere. Before allowing us to sit, they asked if we were going to order food. Those only looking for a drink were turned away. Then, my husband asked the waiter, an older large man,... More

The best risotto with mushrooms in Italy. Very expensive though. For 2 risotti and 1 coca cola we paid 43€....!

This is a nice place to visit for a drink later afternoon or early evening. I like to go here and people watch or read a book. I've found the staff to be helpful and the facilities, although upstairs clean.

It was our third time in Sabatini. The food was very good, as well as the service, in a fantastic location, but prices are too high

We visited here with friends and was immediately put off by the price. We'd eaten in really great restaurants which were nowhere near as expensive. I had the smallest portion of gnocchi for €16 which was warm at best. The waiter upsold my friends (more missold) and they ended up paying through the roof for average food. They then added... More

My boyfriend and I went to Sabatini because friends had said they had already had a table, we checked trip advisor (as we always do) and thought it didn't look the best. We gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and sat down to eat. Our friends were told that the dishes they wanted weren't available and were up... More

10 years ago Sabatini was our go to restaurant in Trastevere We had promised to take our Granddaughter as there is entertainment in the square. I had misgivings when all the restaurants around were full and Sabatini was not! We were only going to have one course but the waiter talked us into having some bruschetta and a plate of... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
