Authentic Ethiopian Eritrean food in a charming family run spot. We are so thrilled to come across this little gem close to our hotel near the Termini. Not to be missed lamb and vegetarian dishes. And the half bottle Chianti Corvo is reasonably priced at €6! Real people, real food, real world prices., no wonder it is packed with local... More

Loved this place. It is surely not very popular and a hidden place near termini station. We were staying at Smart hotel and was craving for other kind of cuisine. Don't be surprised if the place looks deserted but surely go their for the authentic Ethiopian cuisine. We went there twice during our stay in Rome for the culinary marvels.

Ristorante Africa is a lovely little restaurant less than 10 minutes walk from Roma Termini station. I stumbled upon it while look for places to eat near our hotel and was not disappointed. The service is friendly and welcoming, and the portion sizes are great. Why not relax with an Ethiopian Premium Lager while waiting for your meal? A note... More

We came to Rome for my 50th birthday and we're staying nearby, we visited here on Friday 6th January We came fairly early in the evening around 19.30 so we were the first in, the place is very clean and decorated in a nice way with African themes The food was very nice and the service excellent so I would... This was close to my hotel and I was intrigued. Though a little worried as no one has reviewed this restaurant in awhile. I went fairly early on a Tuesday night and I was the only person here. Sadly the service was lacking - the waiter remained on his mobile the whole time and at times I had to remind... More

This restaurant is exceptional it's calm peaceful and delicious, the staff are wonderfully amazing the food is sublime and overall me and my fiancé had an absolutely wonderful meal. We have never eaten in an African restaurant before and were keen to try. The decor was interesting and gave atmosphere. The lads who run the place were personable, helpful and nice. The lamb and veg curry was just like a home made slow cooked curry and we all really appreciated it after a month of travel. The food was... More

We stayed in this neighborhood where there are several Ethiopian restaurants. The food here was excellent. You should be familiar with the cuisine or it may be too spicy for you. Clientele seems to be Ethiopian and Ethiopian -talian as well as locals. good service.

As Ethiopia was once an Italian colony, it is not surprising that there is an Ethiopian community in Rome, or that this community maintains restaurants. Africa is one of my favourite restaurants in Rome, especially when I want to try something other than Italian cuisine. (Italian cuisine is excellent, but sometimes I crave for something spicier.) The restaurant is located... More

When my wife and I travel, we often eat Ethiopian food where we find it, since we can't get it at home. Africa is a good example of the the reason why--it serves earthy, spicy, filling food at reasonable prices. We arrived for dinner around 9, and by 10 the place was completely packed, mostly with locals (always a good... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
