We make a special effort to come to this restaurant every time we go to Rome, so have been three times now. The food is really good - delicious bruschetta, the oxtail pasta is wonderful, Roman artichokes are great. Everytime we find something new and delicious. Service is leisurely but attentive, which is how we like it. The staff are... More

Just finished an outstanding authentic Italian meal at Bruno Alla Lugaretta. It was our last night in Rome, and after a day of site seeing of historic churches in Trastevere, we stopped for dinner. The food selection we extensive and we had one of the best salads of the entire trip. Our son had 3 meat ravioli with cheese and... More

This is my third time visiting Bruno. The food is always outstanding and reasonably priced for the Trastevere neighborhood. The staff are friendly, but don't speak a great deal of English. It would be beneficial to visit with some basic competency in Italian, but it is not necessary. With a bit of patience you can communicate with the staff effectively.... More

The food in this place is definitely ok, but the service is a disaster. The waiter had no smile, took too much time and wanted us to get away as quick as we had finished. The next time I would go for much more authentic Italian restaurants in the neighbourhood.

This nice restaurant is in lively Trastevere, just few blocks from Ponte Garibaldi. We visited here for a dinner and were very pleased. The food was great and the service was really friendly. As antipasti we had some bruschetta and fiori di zucchini filled with ricotta. For prime piatti we ordered spaghetti vongole and zucchini risotto. They both were heavenly... More

A local recommended this restaurant. I had spaghetti amatriciana and it was delicious. The red wine they served was pretty good. Highly recommended.

Indifferent service, average food, overpriced. There are plenty of other options in the area, go elsewhere!

The place inspires so much authenticity with a sweet Italian mamma greeting you in (I suppose she's the owner but not sure). Had the mussels and clams in white wine, a beautiful fresh mozzarella and prosciutto, a splendid amatriciana, an ok risotto, and one of the best tiramisu I ever had. The wine list is also generous. Excellent service. Loved... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
