If you are not looking for a stylish cool restaurant but for excellent food sourced by the reniewed Amatrice countryside and large portions, this is your perfect local trattoria. Best pasta recipes are Matriciana and Carbonara, followed by tasty beef or pork meet. If you go at Porcini mushrooms season don't miss them. Cakes are also good and home made.

Very good pasta dishes in an authentic setting- seemed very popular with locals Something may have got lost in translation as we ended up with 2 plates of very hard bread and 2 plates of olives we didn't really want that ended up costing a bomb-so just watch out you only get what you want instead of a shock when... We spent a really good time here with friends. Food is absolutely amazing and staff is really welcome. I suggest this place to all my Italian friends (I'm Italian as well).

Wonderful, understated, family run restaurant, North West corner of Rome, near Ponte Musica. Usual Roman specialties and lots of choice. Delightful ambience and very much a locals place with the odd foreigners like ourselves. We were made very welcome and a good exaple when a little effort at Italian language goes a long way. Excellent antipasti and roast pork dish.

This trattoria/osteria is around the corner from our apartment this year; so of course we had to try it. i was initially unwilling because of its look from the outside - the large awning is filthy... that aside, everything else is very good, and it's very clean inside. classic italian dishes - we had an excellent spaghetti (billed as tagliolini... We were on our way to the Modern MAXXI museum in the Flaminio quarter and we were hungry. This is a part of Rome that we are completely unfamiliar with and we weren't sure what to have for lunch. Passing by lo Sgobbone one would not think there's anything special going on "in there." Oh my, upon entering it was... More

Out of touristic circuits this small cosy trattoria has one of the best carbonara ever tried. Noisy, familiar neighborhood crowd. Ideal for a winter meal.

The owners of Pippo lo Sgobbone were absolutely fantastic! We arrived from Pordenone and Sgobbone's was recommended by the apartment owner. We were not disappointed! The food was plentiful, the staff was amazing and the quality was second to none! I recommend calling ahead or going by the restaurant for reservations as this place fills up fast, but it is... I'm torn between rating this small neighborhood restaurant among the best in Rome and giving away its secrets and having it flooded with tourists. My fear is that it will become "discovered" and change its methods and menu to cater to the masses. This out-of-the-way restaurant is simple, authentic and a real treat! My pasta with a tomato fish sauce... More

We were staying nearby and were recommended this trattoria as a good place for an evening meal and it certainly was a very good meal. If you are wanting 5 star luxury it is probably not for you. The trattoria is in a non touristy location away from the main sights but is an authentic neighbourhood trattoria and very good... More

Staying in Flaminio

Neighbourhood Profile
The Flaminio area has been making a name for itself as a hub for contemporary architecture and art. Over the past decade, Flamino’s grassy knolls have seen the rise of cultural centres - amazing feats of architecture like the beautiful Ponte della Musica, the wavy contemporary art MAXXI Museum, and the futuristic Parco della Musica, a music complex where international names perform. Flaminio also has traces of the 1960 Olympic Games with Palazzetto dello Sport and Villagio Olimpico, the athlete’s Olympic village turned residential housing. If culture means a ball and a foot, keep your eye on the prize: Rome’s famed Stadio Olimpico football stadium is just a short walk across a bridge.
