I'm writing this review even though I didn't have a chance to dine here. It's my last day in Rome. I had a 1:30pm lunch reservation booked at La Tavernaccia for today that was booked two months ago. Unfortunately when I arrived, the restaurant was closed due to a toilet maintenance problem. Some guy that works at there told me... More

We return again and again to this restaurant. It has everything going for it...spectacular food, lovely staff and easy surroundings. Literally, everything is good here, but the stand outs include the the prosciutto (especially in melon season), focaccia (served only in the evenings), gricia pasta, the tasty and light Sunday lasagna, the pappardelle al cinghiale, and the maialino roast suckling... Rome is famous for these type of restaurants and quite frankly a lot of them disappoint even when supposedly they are off of the tourist track. This place however is fantastic and we found to be one of the best in the city. They have a great and well thought out wine list that is priced fairly. This is a... More

Found this restaurant when doing some research to try and find a restaurant serving traditional Roman dishes in a less touristy environment. Although a little way outside of the historical city it is well worth the taxi ride. We went for lunch because they were booked out for dinner and it didn't disappoint. It is run by two nonna like... I mean REALLY outstanding. Normally I'm happy to give a 5 in Tripadviser for great food and friendly service, because that's what you want when travelling - on that scale La Tavernaccia is a 10. Menu was fantastic, what I imagine a top family restaurant to be, and staff were soo friendly. If we'd found it earlier we would have... More

We had read about this trattoria in a Norwegian book. The place got top score and we decided to "give it a go". It is a good 30 min. walk from the historic centre (we recommend you to take the tram), but it is absolutely worth it! The place is really nice and clean, and the atmosphere is magnificent. Service... More

Great place, far away from the usual tourist routes. We made 2 visits in our recent week in Rome. Just take the tram or an uber, ignore the McDonalds across the street, and have a great meal! The roast suckling pig is a revelation. This place is popular with the locals, so you will want to reserve ahead. I would... More

We were greeted by the extremely friendly staff and shown to our table and bought menus straight away. The waitress asked if we need any help with the menus. On her recommendation we got the freshly sliced procsciotto and the salami and honey bruschetta - both were excellent, the meat was so creamy. For main I had the roasted pig... More

Forget Bourdain, Zimmerman etc. I am a hardcore foodie and this place is faultless. Excellent service, excellent food, great wine list and an action packed atmosphere. The food was exceptionally fresh and authentic. Beautiful bruschetta topped with Lardo & Honey, grilled vegetables and tomatoes, wild boar ragu with fresh pasta and then oxtail with roman style artichokes. It's a little... More

My family of 4 walked into a very full restaurant. Although we had no reservations, a table was made available for us. The lady who served us was so nice. She tried her best to speak English and point out the specialty dishes. We had the best woodfired pizza and the crispy suckling pig dish. I've had lechon my whole... More
