Stumbled across this place on a wander round the area - had a really lovely friendly welcome from the waiter who didn't mind when I stumbled over my basic Italian! The food was lovely - the homemade tiramisu was to die for... and two courses each with a large glass of wine, a beer and a bottle of mineral water... More

My wife and I dropped in one night. Looking for a simple meal after a long day of walking. It was wonderful. Friendly staff. Simple but delicious foods. It was like returning to your an old family restaurant! You are made to feel at home. Amazing, simple pasta dishes. Local wines. The best surprise of all, was both meals with... More

We were looking for a restaurant near our hotel for an evening meal and stumbled across this place - what a find. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. We loved the antipasti (mmm, artichokes) and the pizza was some of the best we had in Italy. We were the only British tourists there and felt like we'd... More

We came here as the restaurant opposite, which was recommended by our hotel, was full. You go down the steps into the beautiful restaurant which is clean with a welcoming atmosphere. Staff were friendly and polite. The pizzas we had were very tasty and cooked with fresh ingredients. 7Euros for a pizza is very good value indeed. Would recommend.

We ate here on three nights. The place is clean, simple, tasteful and very friendly. And the food is delicious - not only the pizzas. The proprietor is a lovely man, friendly and courteous, and the people working there all reflect his charm. The bread and olives at the start come free; also the biscuits and limoncello at the end.... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at La Baita with out little ones. Great pizza, pasta and probably the best steak I've had here in two weeks. Very good pricing and accommodating to kids. Location is close to hotels on via Vittorio Veneto so easy walk as well for guests.

We are glad we had not checked Trip Advisor before eating at La Baita, given recent terrible reviews. That was not our experience at all. The service was friendly, efficient and helpful. The atmosphere was pleasant, the food quite good and the prices very reasonable. The house white wine (6 Euros for a large glass) was excellent -- far better... More

But ten euros taken for a forty euro meal!!!! Avoid pay exact and refuse what appears to be free drinks!! Management condone actions!!!

Stopped by on a sunny sunday afternoon, didn't have too many choices so we stranded here. Had two pizzas which were pretty tasteless. What was worse was the white wine we got, a yellowish beverage on room temperature tasting like cork. We asked the waiter to get us another, but the only option we got was red! No Italian feeling... Popped in here for a pizza. The owner was smoking inside. The waiter was dirty, impolite and spoke little but Italian. The pizza was the worst we had whilst in Rome. It was greasy, the cheese was hard in places which I presume was because it was off and the parma ham was about two weeks out of date and... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
