It's really good restaurant. The owner of the hotel we stayed recommended us Tempio di Mecenate. We tried it and we came back the next evening and the New year's evening. Everything we tried was so delicious - pizza, pasta, tiramisu. The wine is wonderful too. The service is perfect.

The restaurant was quite busy but we were served quickly and politely. We skipped starters and had mains, desserts and a jug of the house wine. The meat was beautifully cooked, the full meal was very enjoyable. I had Lemon sorbet which game in a glass and was more like a drink than a desert, it wasn't what I expected... More

We were really fortunate to bump into this restaurant on our first night in Rome. It was one of the few tratorrias open on Christmas night in our area. The whole place was very authentic: waiters who spoke broken English and a restaurant frequented by locals. The antipasto was laid out on a table as you entered the restaurant. The... More

My husband and I went to this restaurant last night for wine and possibly appetizers. We started with ordering a liter of the house wine while we looked over the menu. Waiter returned with a pitcher of incredibly watered down wine. I went up to the bar and asked for a glass of the house wine to compare -- all... More

We discovered this place while we were waiting for a show in the theater near the restaurant and it became one of our favorite place in Roma : a place to take rest and to eat very well after a busy day in the city. My sister and me came 5 times to taste real italian food (and not bad... More

Went here for our first night in Rome had the fettuccini with mushrooms it was not like American less sauce but still good flavor. The oxtail was good also. By far the best sausage and mushroom pizza hands down. Would definitely come back again for the pizza

The second visit to this typically Italian trattoria. The first we had one of the best pizza we have eaten. Second visit I had suckling pig with roast potatoes. I can't tell you how good it was. Good service great atmosphere. Eat inside a great restaurant.

Horrible rude waiters. Food was nice but cranky old bald man waiter made it an extremely uncomfortable experience. The bill didn't even add up right when we calculated the total and were charged for napkins that we didn't even touch.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
