The place is reached by going down some stairs from the street. It is kind of a covered courtyard. The restaurant is cozy but a little packed with tables and patrons. The distance between tables is almost none and the feeling is like you are dinning with other people together side by side. The restaurant is quite popular and it... More

Couple ate here one night last week and were overall quite pleased. Nothing fancy about the place. We were seated promptly and the service was attentive, quick and professional. Waiter answered all of our questions and suggested a nice, reasonable priced wine for the meal. Meals were good. Nothing awe inspiring, just good quality tasty food prepared well. Prices for... The meal was beautiful, the layout was simply beautiful, the staff were extremely accommodating, we could have stayed in there all night. Spoke to the owner who moved from England 18 years ago, and he's got it spot on. When returning back to Rome, will definitely return to this Ristorante.

Ate here on Sunday night and I'm really glad we did. We walked in and were asked if we had reservations. The restaurant looked busy, but we were asked if we minded eating outside, but in an enclosed area. We were led out and into the enclosed area which was nice and warm. We ordered drinks, and I opted for... More

Had a Saturday night meal here and loved it. Try the artichoke, cod and courgette flower starter but share it! Pasta allessio and pizza were amazing, good value for the location and quality of food. Book on weekends or you might miss out. Full of locals - figure that one!

We attended twice once for full dinner and the following day for a quick pizza before catching train. I had for dinner the fish soup which contained an excellent variety of Langoustine, Shrimp, Swordfish plus more. Cooked to perfection.. My wife had fresh raviolini - full of flavour cooked al dente and very enjoyable. The house wines were Local of... More

We went to aleasio after a long day of tours. This was our third night in Rome and our last favorite restaurant. We are traveling from NYC and would compare this to several extremely touristy restaurants in NYC.This restaurant was a close walk to our hotel (Artemide) and if you are interested in staying in this area there are serval... Alessio has great value, friendly and helpful waiters, and superb food. We have been here 3 times and loved everything we have gotten. Also, this was the best restaurant I have eaten at for somebody with allergies, the waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients of the dishes and could even advise me to stay away from dishes with traces... Alessio is a very traditional restaurant and was recommended by our hotel as it was walking distance from our hotel. We were so happy with the food and service. I would 100% recommend it to anyone, the staff were so helpful and kind. I would like to say a big thank you to Federico! He was amazing!!

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
